Public works grants and reemployment drive expand town projects

A town widens public works with a $7800 CWA grant adding 65 jobs and 8000 in new projects approved. Total funding reaches 13 640 with 18 Glenwood cemetery and street, water, sewer, and school projects plus 9 additional hires by week’s end. National Reemployment Service assists. Lovell Bus Plans Terminal at Maynard River Street Corner

Lovell, president of the Bus Lines Company, announces a new bus terminal at the corner of Walnut and River streets in Maynard. Maynard High Football Ousts Rivals in Fierce Season Drive

Maynard High undertook a bold 12 game season featuring tough independents and Midland League opponents. Led by coach Ai Lever with Ai Sawyer and Charles Lak on staff, the team impressed with strong shooting and clutch play from Captain Johnny Cool and Hank Den. Mrs Helen L Hird 89 died at her Maynard home on Thursday morning. Born in Washington County Maine she had lived in Maynard for 16 years and was married to Samuel H Hird. Funeral was held Saturday at her home with a service by a local minister. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.

Concord Gets $16 700 Federal Work Aid Five Projects Approved

The Civil Works Administration in Boston approved five Concord public works projects proposed by the Concord Board of Selectmen. The town’s share of the federal allotment is 16 700 dollars, funding playground grading, building upgrades, road work, and painting.
