The Dodge Brothers reach a milestone with over two hundred thousand cars sold in under three years. The piece credits value and the power of positive public opinion for continued growth, noting expanding plants and steady demand as American homes back the brand.
A whist party organized by the Ladies' auxiliary of A O H to benefit the Maynard Red Cross branch drew a large attendance on Monday evening. Prizes awarded included Ladies first to Mrs Julia King and Louise Lyons of Concord Junction, Consolation to Grace Maley. Gentlemen first to Arthur Corey and James Squires of West Acton, Consolation to Francis McCarthy. The organizing committee led by chairwoman Mrs Mary Cook included Mrs Mary T Moore Mary Flannery Rose Sullivan Katherine Kingsley Annie Kingsley and Katherine Ineson of South Acton.
Concord residents engage in social, religious, and civic activities with notable visits, meetings, and plans. Highlights include the Skinner auction's crowd, multiple regional guests, a Thanksgiving football game between alumni and high school, a town hall coal discussion, and preparations for charity events and church programs.

Red Cross meeting canceled this week but set for Wednesday December 5 from 10 am to 4 pm. I R Beharrell family visits Camp Grant while John Loftus is stationed in the South. Loftus promoted to corporal. Daniel A. Lakin coaches The Farmerette to be staged before the West Concord Woman's club and guests on Friday December 7.
Final whist event in Warner hall raised spirits and funds for Help of Christians church. Twenty five tables filled as ladies and gentlemen won prizes for top points including Miss Margaret O Grady and John Sullivan. Special gold prizes went to Miss Josephine Lane and Robert Williams for most points. Ruth Lyons drew a manicure set and John Bowen won a gold piece. Helen King directed the piano as dancing followed refreshments.
Stanley Thomas Anthony 24 of Bedford died after the U S S Chauncey sank in collision off Malta. Son of Mrs Florence J Anthony of Great Rd Bedford he enlisted at 17 and served as First Class Electrician Radio on multiple ships including the Brooklyn. He hoped to return home for Christmas. He is survived by three brothers Vernon R el R and A Robert Anthony. His mother received Navy telegram confirming the death.
Coleman Bros announces a large auction at Desmond's St in Ayer Massachusetts listing 150 York horses 300 to 900 pounds 50 mules wagons carts harnesses and buggy gear. The sale set for Monday December 3 1917 with trains from North Station Fitchburg and local electric car routes to aid buyers.
