Concord Willian Kane co owner of Billerica Wilmington Airways Inc says his option on the Frank Williams property in West Concord expired or may expire after the Board of Appeals denied the airport petition. Kane fears an extension decision from the Williams estate before the March town meeting.
Cub Pack 33 of West Concord Boy Scouts held a well attended meeting last Wednesday evening at the Harvey Wheeler School Auditorium under Cubmaster Arthur T. Mullen Jr. A Hobby Night featured boys showing hobbies reviewed by parents. The program followed the business session and the next meeting will be in December.
The Concord Board of Trade will hold its annual supper meeting next Monday evening December 2 at 6 30 at Howard Johnsons West Concord. President Arthur J Duggan will preside and a program will follow including the new slate of officers for the coming year presented by the nominating committee.
Walden Royal Arch Chapter in Concord Walden held a regular meeting at Monument Square Masonic hall last Monday evening. A well attended session followed with business in charge of Exalted Priest Albert A Tallant and a short program to conclude.
The Unit ed Prison Association released six candidates to succeed the late Major Michael J. Dee as superintendent of the Massachusetts Reformatory. Named are J al Doyle Thomas McCusker Frank Dwyer Edward Grennafi Austin H MacCormick and Martin F Davis with John C Dow not yet confirmed. Concord friends hope Dow may still be considered given his support and Dee's legacy.
Reverend Earl K Sweatland new minister will preach the Legion's Destiny sermon at West Concord Union Church with special music. Ministers from Concord Protestant churches will participate in the service.
The public is cordially invited to a whist party hosted by the Daltons. Due to the holiday, a next social event will be arranged with attendance by community members and junior officers listed in the notice.
The Concord Lions held an unusual combined session replacing the usual semi monthly Lions meeting and Rotary weekly luncheon. President Boyd announced the next Lions meeting for December 5 at the Colonial Inn while President Haines scheduled the Rotary gathering for December 12. A travel tale by Mr Zave followed and a question period concluded.
Concord High School meets TonIton in the Emerson Playground Thanksgiving game at 10 30 a m with a large crowd expected. Concord, 7 6 this season and defending Class D champions, must beat their rival to cap a storied year and honor seniors Dave Spooner John Windhol Bill Ryan Ray Eisenhauer Jack O Grady Pete Pearson Eddie Dee Val Musedto Jack Skewes Lennie and others in their final Concord grid appearance.
