Concord Marriage Thanksgiving Day Union for Gillett and Hoar

Congressman Frederick H. Gillett of Springfield and Mrs Christine Hoar of Worcester announce their engagement. The wedding is planned in Worcester on Thanksgiving Day. Mrs Hoar, formerly Christina Rice, is noted for philanthropy and social prominence. Gillett, Amherst and Harvard Law School graduate, served as assistant attorney general and has long been a Massachusetts representative.

Funeral held at Sleepy Hollow for Mrs Margaret Cutter

The funeral for Mrs Margaret Farm er Cutter was held at her son Capt. Frank E. Cutter’s home 5 Sudbury road. Born on the Musketaquid farm in Concord 82 years ago she married Isaac Cutter in 1858 and lived in Boston before moving to Concord 40 years ago. She survived by her son Capt. Cutter of Concord a daughter Mrs Henry D Coolidge and five grandchildren. Interment followed at Sleepy Hollow cemetery.

Armory Dedication Finishes With Broad Community Support

The armory dedication succeeds after hard work and generous town aid relieving expenses. The state inspector advised, safety plans include a screened drill shed and weekly officer presence. Moving the old armory belongings continues, Thanksgiving pauses drills, and a meeting will discuss extending military training options.

In rainy high wind Lexington defeats Concord 7 to 0 in the season’s big contest. Lexington scores in the second period after advancing to Concord’s 15 yard line and a punt signals miscue. Concord loses Fuller to a broken collarbone early. Weatherhead kicks the goal after a touchdown by Wright.

Great Interest Shown In First Meeting Of Forum

The Concord Civic League hosted the town hall forum with about 350 attendees. Charles G. Wood presided and Harold Marshall of Melrose spoke on open forums, its meaning and possibilities, followed by questions and vocal selections by D. N. McAllister. The next session is set for Sunday Dec 12 with Guy D. Gold discussing immigrant philosophy.

Pratt Middlesex Captain George D A Pratt Jr Elected

Pratt of New York city was elected captain of the 1916 Middlesex football eleven at Concord. For two seasons Pratt has played a smashing tackle. Fifteen team members were named including Capt Robert A Lancaster and Capt elect George D Pratt Jr. The team will lose all its backs ends and a guard through graduation, leaving four regulars for 1916 with several substitutes.

The pageant drama Samantha Allen at the Court of Fame promises to be a brilliant production for Concord and follows a nationwide tour with noted success. General Nelson A Miles has praised its value for towns nationwide. A Greek dance and clever comedy vein highlight the show by the Ladies auxiliary of Concord Grange next Tuesday evening.

Last of Tarvia Spread Marks Season by Road Department

Supt Worcester of the road department laid the last tarvia on Monday with 1200 gallons on Sudbury road. The season total reached 23000 gallons. The department, under Mr Worcester, is nearing season completion with only a few small jobs remaining.
