Funeral services for George S Gardner at Concord home

Funeral services for George S Gardner age 68 oldest officer at Massachusetts Reformatory were held Wednesday afternoon at his home 208 Commonwealth Avenue West Concord Union Church ministers Rev Kenneth R Teed and Rev Robert Walker assisted. Burial in Sleepy Hollow cemetery followed. Gardner long served nearly forty years in the states penal service and headed the disciplinary department at the Deer Island House of Correction He was formerly chaplain of Concord Lodge of Elks Pallbearers included Charles M Hamilton George Braman Oscar R Durand Walter Avery Ivan D Servais Harold I Wellington. The Reformatory flag flew at half mast during the service.
