Concord High Appoints Bernard Megin New Coach

Bernard Megin of Concord is named new director of physical education and football coach at Concord High School. He succeeds Howard Hawkes who departs for a year of active duty at Fort Devens. Concord scouts of Troop 49 held a regular meeting at Peter Daskaley School on November 6. Mr Dee showed photos from the Boston American Legion parade last September and the Edinburgh 1939 International Jamboree. An Explorer Patrol meeting is set for November 22 at Charles Voight’s home. Concord Couple Weds In Congregational Ceremony

Miss Marion Louise Flachsbart daughter of Ernest F Flachsbart and the late Mrs Flachsbart of Concord married David Albert Carr son of Mrs Jeanie Carr in a eight o'clock ceremony at the Congregational Church Leominster. After a reception for 109 guests the couple plan to reside in Brockton with the bride a Concord High School graduate and the groom a South Boston native employed in the automobile accessory supply business.

Sudbury Soldier Joins 211th Coast Artillery Training

L Stone of Sudbury has left state service to join the 211th Coast Artillery at Camp Hubbard Texas. He is the oldest enlisted member of the band and holds Staff Sergeant rank. Requiem Mass for Concord Resident Michael Hopkins

Funeral services for Michael Hopkins who died last Thursday at Massachusetts General Hospital were held Saturday morning from his home 11 Elsinore Street followed by a requiem mass at St Bernard's Church. Burial was in St Bernard's cemetery. Hopkins a 55 year Concord resident and former contractor and mason was born in Ireland on February 2 1865 and held roles in local organizations. He leaves wife Mary Coppinger Hopkins four sons John J William J Thomas and David nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Youth wounded by Concord officer in chase from holdup

Pasquale Giglio, 23, was shot through the lung by Patrolman J Almond Heyliger after fleeing from a trio of East Boston youths involved in a store robbery in Concord. Giglio is listed in danger at Emerson Hospital. The other two suspects, Frank Terrivile, 18, and Howard Rockwell, 20, were arrested and held for the grand jury on $10,000 bonds each.
