Post members and volunteers organized a food and blood drive at Concord hospital last Friday. Private cars transported donated cord blood and meals were provided to patients and staff as part of the county program for medical aid.
Concord news reports two Lexington youths, Robert S. West 17 and Norman K. Gaudet 18, charged with the armed robbery of the Concord Package Store on May 10. They appeared in Concord District Court, held for the Grand Jury, with bail set at 20000 each, and changed their plea to not guilty.
A women’s mission is held this week at St Bernard’s Church in Concord with nightly services at 7 30 pm and benediction. Morning masses run at 6 and 9 am. The Concord Dog Training Club presents its second annual sanctioned show this Sunday afternoon May 28 from 1 to 6 at Musketaquid road and Atta wan road in Concord. The public is invited to attend as many entries are expected in this obedience competition.
Concord Public Schools will not hold sessions on Monday May 29 prior to Memorial Day. Classes resume Wednesday May 31. Associate justices of the Supreme Court earn 25000 dollars annually while the chief justice receives 25500 dollars.

The 212 Club of West Concord presents a five day carnival at Emerson Playground from Monday May 29 to Saturday June 3. The Lawrence Carr Shaws carnival, a major New England attraction, headlines the mammoth midway opening daily at 6 30 except Memorial Day when it starts at 6. A special children’s matinee runs 2 to 6 p m on June 3.
Concord Rainbow Girls Assembly No. 53 will install its new officers this Saturday night May 27 after supper at 6 30 at the Masonic Temple. Public installation at 7 45 will be led by Barbara Hail Lorraine s Marcia Fiske Marilyn Wear and Barbara Dutton with Edith Bailey announcing.
The Middlesex Central Council of churches from Concord West Concord Acton Carlisle and Lincoln organized Monday night at the First Parish Church in Concord. Rev Edward Perry Daniels chaired the meeting and adoption of a constitution awaits ratification by all eight churches before formal membership.
Ed ward McKenna, longtime Concord official and former St. Bernard's parish sexton, turns 92 this Saturday. He lives in a Carlisle rest home after a year of confinement following a broken hip. Previously at 45 Lexington Road, he served as chairman of the Concord Board of Registrars for more than 35 years.
Concord veterans are urged to join Memorial Day services in solemn tribute to all fallen comrades. The message emphasizes reverence for those who served in land sea and air and notes the nation’s flag over a free land. Signed by leaders of VFW, United Spanish War Veterans and The American Legion.
Concord High School principal Radcliffe Morrill announces this year’s commencement will be held outdoors at Emerson Playground on Wednesday night June 14 at 6 30. It will be the first outdoor graduation in Concord. Fire Chief Harry E Tuttle will sound the postponement warning at 4 30 and 5 p m if weather forces a delay, with the ceremony moved to the next night.
At the Concord Lions Club meeting in Lexington road supper venue Miss Elmina L. Snow Emerson Hospital administrator reported on hospital work and thanked the club for donations. President Maxwell Eugene Lawrence led the meeting with Past President Rothwell Newton MacRae organizing the program. A joint meeting with Arlington Concord and Lexington clubs was announced for June 6 at Masonic hall in Lexington.
Concord reports Val Muscato newly elected Notre Dame track captain finished second in the Indiana State Meet with a 880 time of 1 55 6. His mile relay duties were unused as the mile relay had no bearing on the outcome. The team eyes upcoming Central Collegiate championship in Milwaukee June 10.
The Veterans Council of Concord invites all town veterans to join the Memorial Day parade and exercises on Tuesday May 30. The parade forms at the State Armory at 1 45 oclock with all veterans urged to participate.
Mr. and Mrs. John Mark Gourgas announce the birth of a daughter Laura Bentley Gourgas on May 20 at the Richardson House in Boston. Grandparents are Mrs Huntington P. Faxon of Cambridge and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Richard Gourgas of Concord. Great grandmother is Mrs. James J. Greenough of Cambridge.
Concord plans Memorial Day fitting exercises and a 2 PM parade starting at the State Armory at 1 45. Col Otis M Whitney will marshal. The route includes Stow Street Sudbury Road Main Street Mill Dam Bedford Street and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery with services at Main Street and St Bernard's cemeteries and Monument Square. Veterans Scouts and local units participate with taps echo and salutes. All town veterans urged to attend.
