The article notes a new slate for the association with Harvey Wheeler elected president. President Williams presided at the meeting and Magoon of 14 Up was named president, with the phrase identifying a student member as the ident.
The Concord Parent Teachers Association will hold its regular monthly meeting at Concord High School Cafeteria on Wednesday evening May 28 at 8 oclock. President Martin J Diskin will preside and the program will be announced. The nominating committee is expected to report a new officer slate.
Concord Col Raymond Emerson of Estabrook road, a world wars veteran, captured a live four week old mountain lion in Utah and keeps it on his estate. The tame cub was shown on the Mill Dam on Tuesday this week as he plans to raise it until it becomes tame.
Massachusetts Reformatory reports two inmates Moynihan and Sylvia remain at large two weeks after escaping from a farm dormitory. Chief clerk Horace Fletcher notes the stretch is the longest in about ten years. They fled May 7 in Ralph Marble’s farm truck and were said to have stolen two cars in Fitchburg and New Bedford.
Plans are being shaped for Concord's annual patriotic celebration and field day to be staged July 3 4 and 5 by the Concord Council Knights of Columbus with George S Lawton as general chairman. Past Grand James J Loughlin supervises the grand prize a new 1947 car on July 5 exhibited at Minuteman Chevrolet and to be driven through town and nearby communities before the event.
A public gathering at the Girl Scout House in Concord will screen the motion picture One World Or None next Sunday May 25 at 8 o clock. Local World Federalists will host with speakers Leland Powers Mark Van Doren and Admiral Martin L Deyo expected to attend. No admission fee.
Concord County observes 4 H Girls Day at the county high school with clubs from various towns sending exhibits. Middlesex Coalition Service provides food support accounting for nearly one quarter of national household consumption.
The Concord Post VFW No. 6537 launches its annual Poppy Drive Friday and Saturday with Leonard Rae as chair and a committee including William Delaney John Hannon Charles Robinson Bernard Rushe and Charles Byron. Proceeds aid disabled veterans and the Eaton Rapids Michigan orphanage. remainder funds aid the local Post Relief Fund. The post plans Memorial Day observances and school visits in late May.
Concord Veterans Council announced that the Memorial Day exercises will follow the usual format with a 2 pm parade on Friday May 30. The Memorial Sunday service will be held at the First Parish Unitarian Church at 11 am led by Rev Edward Perry Daniels, with veterans groups assembling at the State Armory at 10 45 am for the march to the church.
