Business firms in the town agree to a weekly half day off to allow recreation for employees. Beginning May 14 1894 stores to close Monday and Tuesday evenings at 8 0 o’clock and Wednesday at 1 o’clock. Haynes Brothers among signatories.
All matter must reach the office of publication not later than Tuesday night to be printed in the weekly issue. Earlier receipts prevent condensation or delay of articles. News and advertisements may be left with A. R. Currie in Maynard block and subscriptions at J. B. Deane's Loewe's block.
Neighborhood notices report barber shops closing Monday noon to Tuesday morning and Lyons, Connor & Co proposing boat displays. Rev. Mears rests at Asbury Grove. Odd Fellows to visit Waltham. Bevan sails May 19. Maynard Enterprise moves to N Currie’s store and Currie to act as agent. Town meeting aims to discuss waterworks, drain, and school sale funds. social events, fires, travel, and local trades appear with brief updates.
Notice directs advertising material and subscriptions to be delivered to the bookstore of H. L. Whitcomb or the post office to avoid delays. It specifies where news and ads may be left for processing and delivery to the office.
On and after Monday May 14 the subscriber will operate a new hack to convey passengers to and from the station in first class service. Fare remains 25 cents instead of 15 cents no ticket reduction. Horace Tuttle proprietor Concord May 8 1894.
