Concord firemen were called Tuesday evening to a small attic fire at the Masonic Temple. Some smoke damage was reported but there was no serious harm.
Concord residents Livingston Hall and William L Krauschar were elected as fellows at the 180th annual gathering of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Boston. Hall is town moderator and Harvard Law School faculty member. Krauschar is an MIT physics professor.

They adopted a resolution requesting FCC raise WCAP from 1000 to 5000 watts. A tourist guide application from Robert Carroll of 15 Bedford Street was received.
The Concord Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing this Wednesday at the Town House at 8 p.m. Six petitions are to be heard. Petitions for the June 22 hearing must be filed by May 20. The board granted Richard J. Loftus a taxi renewal and A M Radford permission for a house trailer, while denying Catherine McPhillips permission to keep house cats.

Dustin S. Lucier 73 publisher and president of the Marlboro Enterprise received a final tribute at funeral services held at John P. Rowe Funeral Home with a Requiem Mass at Immaculate Conception Church. Dignitaries including Congressman Philip J. Philbin and Atty Raymond Salmon attended after a special plane trip. Numerous officials and veterans from Boston and New England organizations honored his three decades of civic service, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
Margaret Finan of Commonwealth Avenue, a waitress at Howard Johnsons, marked her 20th anniversary with the local restaurant and was presented a gift in formal recognition.
Concord officials, Cardinal Cushing, and engineer Mr Thompson met with selectmen to plan tying the Isaac Hecker School into the town sewer system. The area’s sewer network is overloaded and a renewal program for lower-area sewers is sought as ground is broken for Central Catholic High School on the Florio 16 acre site off Main Street. The new school will house 1000 bays, 30 classrooms, three labs, a 900-seat assembly hall, a large gym, and other facilities, with construction expected to take about two years. The design features light brick with stone trim and metal windows. The school name honors Concord’s most notable convert of the last century.
Concord morning report details four youths from the Minute Man Shop delivering a second set of scrapbooks to hospital administrator Miss Elmina P. Snow and assistant Edward McTernan for the children’s ward. Mrs. Ralph T. Howe, her assistants, and Minute Man Association for Retarded Children express gratitude to supporting community organizations and businesses.
