Navigator Wheeler Declared Killed In 1944 Hungary Raid
Concord records indicate Lieutenant Caleb Kendall Wheeler was reported dead in action after a July 2 1944 raid over Hungary. Wheeler a navigator aboard a 15th Air Force bomber targeting Budapest was on his tenth mission. He was a Bowdoin graduate class of 1943 and married January 1944 to Elizabeth KaE of Presque Isle Maine. He leaves his wife and parents plus four brothers including Henry Erick Joseph Warren Wheeler, all noted locally.

Funeral services for Georges We Sanere in Concord
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Georges We Sanere who died April 24 in Hinsdale Illinois where he had lived. Rev Edward Perry Daniels officiated and burial followed in Sleepy Hollow cemetery. He is survived by a sister Miss Mary Leighton of Boston.

Lynn Butcher Recovering From Wounds In Philippines
West Concord resident Second Lieutenant Lynn E. Butcher 25, husband of Doris Britt, is recovering at a base hospital after being wounded on Luzon. He has served overseas nearly two years, with prior postings in Australia New Guinea and the East Indies. Born in Buchanan West Virginia he joined the U S Army in 1936 and married in 1942 at Fort Dix New Jersey. They have a 13 month old daughter Lynn Marcie and reside with her parents Michael and Mary Britt. Mrs Butcher is sister of the late Robert Britt who was killed in action in Europe last fall.

Concord Veterans Information Center opens in Veterans Building
The Veterans Information Center in the Veterans Building opened May 1 and began serving returning service members. In its first month an announcement and questionnaire about veteran needs reached all in service, with a third responding and many offering useful suggestions.
