A Concord town notices list includes upcoming trustee announcements for Grest Stone, Episcopal services with Everett C. Herrick at Andover Newton, and chapel services at Mid x school. Local groups meet at First Parish Unitarian, Odd Fellows hall, and Bernard's church.
Concord records indicate Lieutenant Caleb Kendall Wheeler was reported dead in action after a July 2 1944 raid over Hungary. Wheeler a navigator aboard a 15th Air Force bomber targeting Budapest was on his tenth mission. He was a Bowdoin graduate class of 1943 and married January 1944 to Elizabeth KaE of Presque Isle Maine. He leaves his wife and parents plus four brothers including Henry Erick Joseph Warren Wheeler, all noted locally.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Georges We Sanere who died April 24 in Hinsdale Illinois where he had lived. Rev Edward Perry Daniels officiated and burial followed in Sleepy Hollow cemetery. He is survived by a sister Miss Mary Leighton of Boston.
The Concord Board of Assessors expects to announce the new 1945 tax rate for the town shortly after the first of next month following confirmation from State Tax Commissioner Henry F. Long's office.
West Concord resident Second Lieutenant Lynn E. Butcher 25, husband of Doris Britt, is recovering at a base hospital after being wounded on Luzon. He has served overseas nearly two years, with prior postings in Australia New Guinea and the East Indies. Born in Buchanan West Virginia he joined the U S Army in 1936 and married in 1942 at Fort Dix New Jersey. They have a 13 month old daughter Lynn Marcie and reside with her parents Michael and Mary Britt. Mrs Butcher is sister of the late Robert Britt who was killed in action in Europe last fall.
West Concord gathering of the Sportsmen's group will hold its bi monthly meeting after supper at the clubhouse off Harrington Avenue. Supper is organized by Fred Nolan and committee. business session led by President Turner Kelley.
The wedding of Miss Mary Agnes Condon daughter of Mr and Mrs P Condon of West Concord took place Sunday at Our Lady Help Christians church. Miss Margaret Condon sister of the bride served as maid of honor and Capt Robert O'Brien of Concord was best man. A reception followed at the Old Mill Dames room. Sergt Bent recently returned from 39 months overseas service in the Pacific theater including Guadalcanal Bougainville and the Philippines.
Miss Yolanda Marie Sargenti daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Sargenti married Joseph Girardi son of Mr and Mrs John Girardi at St James Church in Arrington Heights. Rev Dr Maurice J O Cat united the couple. The bride wore a white satin gown with veil and carried gardenias. Aide Miss Jennie Sapuppo wore yellow chiffon with floral headdress and carried yellow and purple sweet peas. Best man Victor Sorgente, a brother of the bride, resides in Arlington. Girardi is educated in local schools and employed locally.
West Concord Cub Pack 33 held a charter night at Harvey Wheeler School with leading scout officials present. Principal speaker Sgt Robert W. Ted Brooks, formerly with Concord Company, spoke of Guadalcanal action. The charter was given to Troop Committee Chairman Rev Kenneth R. Teed and registration certificates were distributed to Cubs, Den Mothers, and committee members. Guests included Philip Johnson, Kenneth Arbuthnot, R Seavey, Edgar A. Rohan, and Rev John E.
The wedding of Ans Trene M Meee of Art ington and Edward H Mata Pe of Mrs Mark Mara and Mr Goncord of 18 Bedford Rd was announced. The bride is a graduate and bank employee in Boston. He is a Gorton High School veteran of World War II who served with the U S Navy.
The wedding of Rose MacLeod of Lincoln took place Saturday with family presence noted. The bride’s uncle spoke and the couple planned a quiet reception. Miss MacLeod, a 1941 West Conded High School graduate, has worked at Lincoln Telephone for three years. Pvt Fe dock, a veteran of overseas service in Africa and Italy, attended in uniform.
Concord’s St Bernard’s parish announces its annual minstrel show for May 22 23 and 24 at 815 PM. The public is invited to attend. The Concord fire department reports 79 calls for the current year.
The Concord Board of Selectmen set Monday evening May 21 at about 7 30 for a special town meeting to consider raising pay for town employees. The call follows a petition signed by more than 200 voters and ties to six Concord police officers resignations over a salary dispute.
Several months of overseas dates are now with a medical unit at Camp Edwards Miss Symes a graduate of Concord High School is now employed at the Bedford base No date has been set for the wedding N C and recently returned air antly.
Mr. and Mrs. Vito Scarpitti of Conant Street West Concord observed their 17th wedding anniversary last Saturday. Mrs. Scarpitti is the former Jane Viola. The couple was wed in Concord and have lived here since. They have two children, Staph aged 16 and Connie aged.

The Veterans Information Center in the Veterans Building opened May 1 and began serving returning service members. In its first month an announcement and questionnaire about veteran needs reached all in service, with a third responding and many offering useful suggestions. The service continues with ongoing results and outreach.
