Portrait of a Sturdy New England Farmer in Maynard
Eight years ago he moved to this state and bought a farm near the American Powder Mills. For 40 years he lived there, then sold and moved to Maynard Centre. A lifelong Republican and Methodist, he recalls explosions at the mills, helped found the town’s church, and still works hard with health and memory to spare. He remembers President Fay’s fatal accident and notes Maynard’s early growth from just four houses. He married twice, has 13 children, and remains active despite slight deafness.
