Dr Arthur F March Jr of Zero Thoreau Street will address the Young People's Society at First Parish Church Sunday night at 6 15 after supper. The local optometrist is the featured guest speaker for the event.
Concord police advance inquiry into an early Saturday break at the Concord Oil Company office. Patrolman Robert E. Kelley found the scene at 4 20 a m two windows were smashed but owners F Norman Peterson and Leonard Smith report nothing stolen. Sgt Marshall J Witherell leads the inquiry.
Concord members of Beta Sigma Phi held a meeting in the directors room of the Concord Co-Operative Bank. A cultural program titled Architecture was presented by Mrs. Addie Progen and Mrs. Dorothy Foss. On Tuesday night March 10 members enjoyed a Come as You Are social at Miss Alice Zumwalt’s Crescent road home with games and refreshments.
The 65th anniversary banquet of Concord Grange No. 150 will be held at the Harvey Wheeler School in West Concord on Tuesday night, April 7, and is open to the public. Entertainment and dancing follow. Reservations must be made by April 1 with Mrs Bertha Johnson at Concord 535 W master or Mrs Marion Clark at Concord 869 J lecturer.
Following a Monday meeting the Concord Board of Selectmen named Francis L. Moulton Jr. 2 Elm Street to succeed Attorney John M. Eaton Jr. as an associate member of the board of appeals after Eaton tendered his resignation.
Five Concord high school students plus faculty member visited Somerville on March 12 for a day exchange to study differences between town and city government. Somerville representatives also attended the Concord town meeting on March 2 led by their advisor.
Concord selectmen announce Winthrop W. Sargent of Monument street fills the vacancy created by A Page Browne of Barnes Hill road. Other members are Chairman George S. Law ton and Pliny Jewell Jr. Browne resigned due to business pressure.
The Concord Emblem club announces a whist party on Thursday March 26 at 8 o'clock. It will be held at the new Elks home on Concord turnpike. The public is welcome with prizes and refreshments provided.
Concord Folks are reminded of the American Legion Auxiliary whist party to be held Monday night March 2 at 8 30 in the Veterans Building. Mrs Naomi Wood president is in charge of arrangements.
Concord Free Public Library hosts an exhibit of paintings by Fenn School pupils in grades five through eight. The show, running two weeks to March 27, features aviation themed works and maritime scenes, with artists including Arnold, Bentinck-Smith, Davos, Fallwell, Forbes, Ford, Frothingham, Hall, Hamlin, Hutchinson, Keyes, Koch, Little, Lovett, Mellon, Olmsted, Ritchie, Short, Smith, Throop, Wilson, and Worcester.
The Harvard Trust Company announces the addition of Peter Gray to its staff. Gray, a resident of Arlington, will assist the officers and has previously worked at the Kendall Square Cambridge office.
Concord Lions club holds regular meeting and supper Tuesday night March 24 at 6 30 at Howard Johnson's. President Lawrence S Kendall will preside and the speaker will be announced. A directors meeting may be held Monday night.
Franklin J. McLaughlin heads a diverse committee planning a 158th anniversary program of the Old North Bridge battle. Athletics director Bernard Megin will run a morning track meet with Concord Natick and Lexington. At 1 pm a Concord high versus Lexington high baseball game follows a sunrise salute and a military ball to close the day.
Local volunteers organize a Concord committee led by Mrs. Andrew H. Hepburn to raise 18 million dollars for cancer battle. Campaign begins April 1 with April designated as cancer month, citing cancer as a leading U.S. killer.

Williams yesterday took the oath as governor's councilor at the State House, succeeding Brig. Gen. Otis M. Whitney. The ceremony, at a joint House Senate session, was administered by State Senate President Richard Furbush. A special primary election is set for April 28 to fill the vacancy, with challengers including Harold Tompkins, Richard D. Elson, and Michael Tomyl.
