Rescues Mad in W Acton Coal Slide
Louis Padula of Boudreau avenue helped free William Davis who was buried under a large coal load in West Acton yesterday. Davis was clearing a chute when the regulator failed, coal poured down, and Padula and others freed him after persistent work. A doctor treated him and he survived. Padula credited tobacco in his mouth for delaying the coal from entering.

Boy Forced to Sleep in Hen House in Maynard Case

Hulda J Welch 76, born in Stamnes Quebec, died Tuesday morning at her daughter's home in Acton after living with family since her husband’s death in 1917. She was a member of the MLE Church of North Adams earlier and attended Congregational church in Aston. She leaves a son H B Welch of To, a brother A C Borden, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were conducted by Rev D B Follette with interment in the cemetery.
