Regular Eastern Star meeting held in the town hall last Thursday evening. Church services planned for Christ on Wednesday and Friday at 8 p.m. at the church.
Acts and meetings wrap up in March as Nashoba Fruit Producers' association holds its fourth winter meeting in West Acton with light turnout and talks on cooperation thinning apples and locality effects on varieties. Attendees include James Tuttle Raymond Durkee and local residents. Community House hosts open house socials and refreshments follow.
The Woman's Church Aid society of the Congregational church presents another evening of entertainment with Colonel French's pictures. The event is set for Saturday April 23 and features The City of Washington the Capitol City of the United States and Mount Vernon a Home and Tomb of George Washington.
W N Murphy of Holliston became station agent at North Acton on Monday Feb 28. Al bert Cheney completed 24 years as North Acton station agent that day and was transferred to Lancaster. Mrs Margaret Robinson Ellison of the Middlesex Farm Bureau speaks on School Lunches and Their Need at the Woman's club meeting at the community house Wednesday at 2 20 PM.
Robert Wilson, a well known citizen born March 6, 1841 in Chatham Canada, marked his 80th birthday in Maynard where he has lived since 1865. A former Assabet mills worker and brother of Samuel and William Wilson, he recalled post Civil War changes as family and friends hosted a birthday gathering at the McGarry home.
The Masonic Social club held a reception for Scotch members at the club rooms on Saturday evening. Decorations featured American flags. an amateur orchestra of club members performed with George Lawton and others, including Gilbert M. Hawkes and John Alden. Chorus singing and a social followed, chaired by Thomas Wright with committee members listed.
The Ladies Auxiliary A. O. H. held a successful food sale at Fearns pharmacy Saturday afternoon. Mrs Susie Sheehan chaired with a team including Mrs John Moynihan Mrs James McCarthy Mrs Robert White and Mrs Stella Moore plus Misses Mary Driscoll Rose Sullivan and Nellie May. The Magdalen chapter OU KB 8 dramatic committee plans a costume party at Cooperative hall April 13 with Newell's orchestra providing music.
John Fitzpatrick becomes the night watchman at the Commonwealth avenue crossing of the Bb & M railroad replacing M Duren who retired due to illness. Also noted are cards from Mrs Mary Maguire and daughter Mrs John Kelley of Shirley stating their trip from New York to Orlando Florida for March.
Mr and Mrs Martin A Wilhanes visited relatives in Lowell last week. Mrs Mary Keefe on vacation at her home on Old Road to Nine Acre Corner was guest of Mrs George Creighton last week. Mr and Mrs Fred Baker who stayed two months in Daytona Florida have returned to their Hubbard Street home.
Mr and Mrs Cornelius O'Neil of Lowell spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Frank McManus. Miss Elizabeth Malone returned home in Moncton New Brunswick after a month's visit with her aunt Mrs George Graves. John and Edward McManus resume studies at Holy Cross College after a week's vacation spent with their parents.
