Malcolm G Caldwell 60 of 4 Laws Brook Road was stricken Saturday night while on duty. He was rushed by ambulance to Emerson Hospital and was reported comfortable yesterday as doctors prepared cardiograms to determine the extent of his illness.
Local Draft Board No. 114 issues a draft call for two youths to report for armed forces service on Monday March 18. Inductees listed include Levinus George Van Pli and Maynard S. Sconmeel Montane.

Beverly Porter of Bedford Road recently learned she passed the state board to become a registered nurse. She completed Mount Auburn Hospital nursing program class of 1956 at Worcester State Hospital and is employed as a medical surge staff nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital Cambridge. She is a Concord High School graduate class of 1953.
Gov. Furcolo urged an emergency appropriation of 100000 to aid the Department of Public Utilities in fully investigating a proposed 18 million rate increase by New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. The board of appeals will hear the matter on Wednesday March 13 at the Town House.
At a Saturday meeting of the comprehensive town plans committee 12 bidders were received for alterations to the D P W Building. The firm Adams Howard Greeley was retained with Roland Greeley presenting. Town Manager Theodore M Nelson reports bids for new parking meters will be launched soon and two new police cruisers will be delivered mid month. He names Hardi Greene to fit devices at the municipal light plant and notes re lays on water mains for two new elementary schools. Chapter 90 projects seek $100,000 across state county and town to finish Route 62 to Acton line. Nelson proposes an addressograph machine to cut costs with a $1925 town meeting allocation.
Concord civic group members will hear Carl Sheridan of public administration discuss federal highway aid and construction on routes 110 and the new Route 2 at Edward Johnson's Tuesday 19 at 6 30 o'clock. Executive Secretary George E Erickson makes the announcement.

Te Tommee of River John Nova Scotia died Tuesday at Emerson Hospital. Born March 10 1875 she would have been 82 next Sunday. She lived in this town 16 years and was the widow of Fred Tower Boyd Sr who died in 1945. Funeral services were held at Dee Son Funeral Home with Rev Robert H Barber officiating. Burial followed in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery family lot.
Newborns announced at Emerson Hospital in Concord include a son to Mr. and Mrs. John Arena of Arena Terrace on February 24 a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Emil Evertz of 3 Nimrod Drive on February and Mrs. Charles E Sheehan Jr of 85 Barnetta Mill Road on February 28 a son to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sea Bring of 3 Southfield Circle on March 1 a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison of 49 Laws Brook Road on March 3 and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Renees of 230 Commonwealth on March 3.
Trinity Episcopal Church men and boys will attend Holy Communion next Sunday March 10 at 9am. A breakfast follows at Howard Johnsons Restaurant. The Rev Dr Walter Muelder of Boston University Theological School will speak.
Concord Rainbow girls announce two food sales for the grand officers program. One sale will be at Larry's Flower Shop, 8 Main Street, at 4 a.m. The second will be at the Red and White Store in Littleton, at 10 a.m. Both events invite all to attend.
Voters in Concord and Carlisle approved forming a regional district by large margins. Concord 745 to 40 and Carlisle 143 to 6, completing the third major step, with the fourth step being funding for a new regional school costing about 2.23 million dollars to serve roughly 900 students. A seven member regional school committee is planned with five Concord members and two Carlisle members.
