Friday evening concert at the Concord High School Auditorium directed by Dinos B. Manager A George Landini reports the Concord Legion band will perform on radio station WLLH Lowell at 9 pm on March 24. Nearly 49 musicians will join the program airing as part of the Americanization program at the Lowell Memorial auditorium.
At the Concord board of Selectmen meeting last Tuesday in the Town House Hubert Erampelly was reelected to a three year term as chairman. Ivan D. Fail will not continue as clerk. William A. Mrs Myrtle Mitchell of Concord was injured when her car collided with a heavy truck driven by Karl Anderson of Acton at the Concord Turnpike and Sudbury Road. She received first aid, was taken to Dr Fulton Johnston’s office, then to a hospital where injuries were minor and she was later released. Her car was towed to a nearby garage.
The Trinitarian Congregational Church in Walden Street Concord lists events for March 10 to 14. Rev Wilfrid H Bunker leads morning worship at 10 46 am and a 7 00 pm Young People's Society meeting. March 13 features Midweek Service with Rev Kenneth Teed. March 14 offers the supper meeting of the Church School.
Concord Mothers Club heard a lecture by Cynthia Proctor of Boston on menus for New England housewives, with focus on hospitality for visitors. Club president Agnes Olson led the event, followed by refreshments by Gook and other hostesses. Next meeting scheduled March 25.
Mus ketauqid Gun Club held its annual banquet and officer election at the Howard Johnson restaurant in West Concord due to snow. Elected officers include Jack Hilliard president Archie Simpson vice president Frank Hall secretary Glen Swett treasurer. Concord Representative Otis M Whitney awarded 15 medals to Herronville baseball team members for winning the Concord Asparagus league title last summer. The squad also receives the Father Sears shield for champions. Ironville, led by manager Bob Parke, is expected to defend its laurels this year.
Road Superintendent Elmer Joslin estimates the town of Concord suffered about $7500 in storm damage after two severe snow events, a sum unusually large for recent annual appropriations.

At a meeting of 47 members from Middlesex and Worcester County Poultry clubs in Concord, David Hartwell of Acton Center earned a Junior Judging team spot and Elmer Gowan of Acton won a Senior team berth. They will compete at the Boston Poultry Show in the near future on their respective squads.
Lovejoy's sled dog team won first place in the Bridgeton Maine one and a half mile championship over the weekend with Joveya Booth as driver. The victory adds to its string of winter wins.
In Hunt Memorial gym Concord male teachers defeat Senior class 26 25 in a stand up finish. Ralph Ward leads with 15 points and the women fall to the Senior girls 20 14 in the other half of the twin bill raising funds for Sprague sports.
Concord reports the annual Firemen's Relief Association ball will be held Monday night at the State Armory. A concert runs 8 to 9 and dancing follows with the Enton Orchestra providing music. Maxwell E. Lawrence chairs the event and tickets are promised to be cheaper than last year.
William A. Nicol, Salvation Army public relations secretary for Massachusetts and Rhode Island, will speak at the Concord Rotary Club at the Colonial this Thursday noon. He will show color moving pictures of the Army’s activities and comment. Last week the Concord club hosted Newton club officers, a return compliment from February 19 when Concord members visited Newton.
The Hudson Community Health Association records February totals: 228 visits across association, Metropolitan, John Hancock, and welfare categories, with 65.30 in cash receipts from February and January payments. Well Baby Conferences were omitted for February. Specific visits include 65 association, 35 Metropolitan, 23 John Hancock, 102 welfare, plus 1 prenatal and 1 baby welfare visit.
Rev Charles Russell conducts Holy Communion at 8 am and 9 30 Junior Church and morning prayer with sermon. Viola music precedes. Wednesday March 13 Holy Communion at 10 15 with 11 am talk by Frank W Teague of Maine. Box lunch noon to 4 pm and Lenten service league activities.
Funeral services were held for Dr Randall Neilson Woodorth 45 who died suddenly. Rev Russell Eck of Trinity Episcopal Concord officiated at Oak Lawn Cemetery Chapel. Woodworth a Concord dentist resided on Central Street South Acton and served in WWI with the 301st Field Artillery then the Dental Reserve Corps at St Oglethorp Georgia. He is survived by his wife Mary and a son plus several brothers. Legionnaires from Concord and Acton attended with a full volley and taps. The town mourns a respected citizen and community member.
Public invited to Boy Scout Court of Honor at Bulkeley School March 8 at 8 o clock. Awards include Tenderfoot badges two star badges and a Five Year Veteran award with Second and First Class honors. Morton R Seavey will present, Camp Sachem film shown by Jack Merrill, World’s Fair trip slides by Charles R Voigt along with additional features.
Concord Mrs George, Timmins and Mrs Alexander Williams tied for first with 59 points at the armory in the weekly event. Runner-up honors went to Mrs Edward B Caiger and Mrs Benjamin Smith at 40. Others scored include Mrs Edwin D Brooks 38 and Mrs D Ripley Gage 37.
Concord High girls lost 35-16 to Lexington with Nuhiam Clark leading Concord and Jane Billard scoring 12 for Lexington. Sederberg and Pierce each had 8 for Concord. second-team game ended 19-17.
West Concord hosts Neighbors Night at Odd Fellows hall with Elizabeth Pickard and Esther Nolan in charge. Delegates attend from Mizpah Maynard Evening Star Billerica Refuge Saxonville Winona West Acton. Concord Female Charitable Society meets March 13 at 2 pm, hosted by Mrs Henry P Richardson with Miss Rebekah assisting. W Perc Blodgett chairs April 19 parade committee meeting at 3 for Veterans Building event.
Concord teachers plan a lasting tribute to Wells A Hall with a memorial project. A committee led by Minna Be Findeisen Sarah Loomis and Mary Garvey will establish Wells A Hall Auditorium in the high school and place a portrait there. Contributions to the Wells A Hall Memorial Fund may be given to committee members. make checks to Wells A Hall Memorial Fund.
Mrs Rod oy EB Pratt, chairman, lists the Concord Red Cross chapter officers and a group of men and women to assist in war work. The slate includes Mrs Horace L Arnold nursing service chair, Dr on a ie first aid, Edward B Gaiger, Janice Rei Cross, Mrs Jarvis Derby, Mrs Winslow J Damon public relations, Henry A Laughlin volunteer service, William A Buttrick, Alexander Cameron, and four officers plus Chilton Cabot and Miss Mary Flavin forming the executive committee.
Concord Saturday evening Mr and Mrs Harry EB Burk of 1 Davis Court were surprised with a party honoring their 16th wedding anniversary They wed in East Boston on March 2 1924 Guests included James Barrett Al Collette Mrs Shay and many friends who enjoyed a mock marriage and a bouquet and dishes presented to the couple.
Concord On Tuesday evening at Elks Hall the Concord Grange No 150 hosted a Booster's Night with a capacity crowd of Grange members visitors and prospective members. Frank A. Brooks and Marion L. Johnson led the program. New member applications were received and will close Tuesday night. On March 19 the first and second degrees will be worked followed by an Irish program directed by Joh Barry and assisted by Ellen and Frances O Connor.
The regular meeting of the Woman's Union of Trinitarian Congregational Church is moved to March 14 at 2.30 pm. The club will feature a speaker and special musical program.
Voters turnout exceeds 500 at the Concord town meeting held at the state armory. Thirty plus articles were enacted including a $535,279 budget with a $36.85 tax rate for 1940 and a $13,600 purchase of a 65 foot aerial fire ladder. Major appropriations cover schools, government departments, highways, and welfare programs. The meeting adjourned around 11:05 p.m.
Marlboro Mrs. George Crotty and Mrs John Dion organized a successful weekly charity whist party held Tuesday afternoon in St. Marys church auditorium.
Concord town meeting results elect Tompkins chairman of the Concord School Committee for a term expiring in 1941. Newly elected member Richard Greenman joins the five member panel alongside Mary Harrington and Rue Rodday, with terms set to expire in 1948.
In a dramatic finish Snows defeated the heavily favored All Stars, last year’s champions, in regular match play. Snows led with a trio of timely pins and rallied in the second half to seal the upset.
Police continued to investigate a second breakin at the Coffee Shop on Main Street in Hudson. Early yesterday morning $50 was taken from proprietor Mike Demoura. Entry was through a rear door, with footprints in the snow suggesting a single thief familiar with the location. Detective work focused on the suspect’s likely path to the money.
William O'Brien died suddenly Saturday at his Southville home. Funeral from Callahan Funeral Home Hopkinton with a requiem mass at St. Matthew's Cordaville. Interment in St. John's Cemetery Hopkinton. He was born in Southville 76 years ago and lived there all his life. Survived by brothers John and Henry O'Brien of Southville and sister Mrs Julia Tucker of Westboro.
