National Guard Commemorative Stamp On Sale At Post Office
A three cent stamp honoring the National Guard is now available at the local post office. The 182nd Infantry, including Concord's Company H, traces to 1636 as the Fifth Regiment and descends from the Concord and Lexington Minute Men. Colonel Alfred W. DeQuay of Brockton commands the 182nd, with headquarters in Charlestown.

Concord-Michael Manning dies veteran barber and ex postmaster
Michael Francis Manning 90 long time Concord Bedford resident and former Bedford postmaster died in Waltham at Dale Rest Home. Born in Ireland August 31 1862 he was once a prize fighter and in real estate. Survived by wife Charlotte Manning two sons Edward and Walter, daughter Laura Manning Arlington granddaughter Charlotte Kakes Concord and three great grandchildren. Funeral at Dee Furreal Concord followed by Mass at St Bernard’s Church burial in Shawheen Bedford.

Oil burner blaze reported at Bedford road residence
Concord firemen from the Central Station responded to an oil burner fire on Bedford road Tuesday morning. Chief Harry E. Tuttle said damage was slight and noted it was the 36th alarm of the year. Fireman William J. Ryan, 3 Stow street, who recently returned from the U.S. Army, resumed duties at Central Station.
