Clinton man Clinton Raymond LeMay age 28 was arrested by Patrolman James E Finan Jr Thursday afternoon in Snows Pharmacy and arraigned in Concord District Court on a bad check charge He attempted to pass checks for 48 at Ralph A Macones Sporting Goods Healy s Liquor Store and the Colonial Store He was given three months in the House of Correction at Billerica Judge Pierre A Northup presiding Police said he had several other complaints outstanding from Fitchburg Leominster Lunenburg Clinton Worcester Springfield and Lancaster authorities.
Concord Rev. Dr. Edward P aniels will preach Sunday at 11 on The Un finished Tower. Soloist Ruth Ann Tobin, a Boston University music major, will perform, with Mrs Harold F Adams as organist.
Concord town building inspector announces May 1955 permits totaling 215,460, down from 545,575 in May 1954. New constructions include multiple dwellings and facilities such as a foundry addition, educational buildings, and various homes on Elm, Main, Thoreau, and other streets, with several re-roofs and extensions listed.
A list of 85 individuals with Communist ties was released by the Massachusetts Commission on Communism in a state senate session. Included is Adolph Isaac Katz, 29, formerly of Concord and an engineer, who taught at Lowell Textile Institute before resigning. He testified in 1954 about his youth and associations, denying party membership while acknowledging past connection to the Young Communist League. He and his wife reportedly moved from Concord to the Midwest earlier.

Concord Arm post elects James J Mansfield Post 158 commander W W II veteran Concord Arthus W Parke of 45 Lexington Road succeeds Thomas F Meehan. New officers include vice commanders both veterans, senior vice commander Charles M Byron and others. Installation planned for September or October with Ladies Auxiliary joint event likely open to public.
Concord police investigate two hit run incidents on Elm Street and Sudbury Road. A dog was killed on Elm Street by a fast moving car that left the scene. On Sudbury Road near Magurn's residence the vehicle caused property damage and fled the area.
Bernard E. Megin, director of the recreation commission, announces the staff for Concord summer playground classes running June 27 to August 19. Four play areas Emerson Rideout Harvey Wheeler and state police will be staffed by 14 instructors, 11 returning and 3 new appointees James W McMullen Walter Brzezinski and Ann Callahan. Edward K. Williams, 31, reported missing after leaving his car at Concord depot, has been found. He left home last Wednesday at 7 30 am. the car was located Thursday evening in the depot lot. State police teletype had extended the search to the east, and Williams later called his wife from New York. He is a relative of a Concord family.
Concord residents welcome two newborns this past week at Emerson Hospital. A son to Mr and Mrs Wallace Hickey of 2 Dartmouth Court Maynard arrived June 7. A son to Mr and Mrs Ralph H Packard of 80 Cedar Street Lexington arrived June 8.
Concord resident Alfred E Spurr joined 396 other graduates at Bentley School of Accounting and Finance for the 36th annual commencement exercises. The ceremony occurred Friday evening at the Boston Opera House on June 10.

The 1955 annual National Thoreau Society meeting will be at First Parish Church Concord on Saturday July 9 at 10 30 am. Dr Raymond Adams president will preside. Guest speaker Prof Harold W Blodgett of Union College will discuss Thoreau and Whitman and editorships. Officers will be elected and tours of Thoreau memorials offered.
