Campaign notes mix of plans and factions in 1940 race
Amid rumors and dispatches from Dallas and other bureaus the 1940 campaign landscape shows Dewey and Hannegan critiquing Roosevelt and the New Deal while Spangler Bark and Egan outline competing strategies. The discord reflects factions within party lines, incomplete plans and calls for more time to consolidate a unified opposition approach.
