A church service described with choir and chancel filled, ushers from Odd Fellows Merton J. friendliness and others, pallbearers including F John W Woodworth, and burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Corinthian.
A large turnout for the 25th annual pilgrimage of the Naval and Military Association to Lexington and Bedford roads featured World War II and Spanish War veterans, a parade led by Commander Baird and Taunton, and a memorial at the Concord Bridge. British and American dignitaries attended with bands, wreaths, and speeches honoring fallen soldiers.
A Sunday service at First Parish in Concord begins at 11 with a sermon on The Turn of the Tide. Communion follows at 12 as part of the day’s observances.
Mr and Mrs William Scully Sr of Dartmouth Street observed their 56th anniversary. Married June 8 1879 in Rockville Conn they have six children 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr Scully age 75 works at Assebet mill as a reputed carder and is a lifelong Democrat.
Flags in South Acton flew at half staff for Isaac Ford senior vice commander of Captain Isaac Davis Post G A R. A solemn service at the Universalist church featured G A R ritual with Edwards Quimby Post A L. pallbearers from A L Post and a three volley salute at Woodlawn Cemetery. Ford born May 21 1843 in Canton Maine migrated to South Acton after marriage to Ada Ryerson on March 21 1874 and left a widow and many nieces and nephews. multiple delegations attended from neighboring towns and organizations.
Maynard High’s baseball team ended the season with eleven wins and nine losses. They started strong by winning their first five games before a loss to Concord. A mix of base running errors and strong defense, plus timely hitting, defined their approach as an up and down club. Only four players hit over .300 led by Dominic Colm as a key contributor.
Emerson Junior High School in Maynard will graduate 165 pupils at graduation exercises tomorrow night in George Washington Auditorium. Certificates will be presented by Supt. James P. King. The program includes a class address, recitations, songs, and a school chorus, with the list of graduates named.
The Union Congregational Maynard held its annual Children’s Day with ceremonies led by Mrs Charlotte Stockbridge and church teachers. Graduates received diplomas, Bibles, and flower gifts, as scenes from Church School work were presented by radio and TV style segments. The Methodist Church also marked Children’s Day with diplomas, perfect attendance certificates, and a baptism for John Wesley Taylor, all under Rev J Rex Shapler.

Our Gang a group of five girls held a lawn party at Mrs. Mary Martin’s lawn on Maynard Brooks and Maple streets. Ten children will have a vacation this summer as the outcome of the event. Prizes included a 32 piece dinner set, a gold piece, and a golf item. The event featured a candy table, ice cream, games, a baked bean supper, and many donations.
The town clerk records show marriage intentions rising this year with 15 filed by June 6, compared with 32 on the same date last year, indicating a shift in mood. Welfare expenditures fell for March to May while advertising in the Enterprise increased, with regular advertisers reporting boosted business from larger space and observed results.
The Assabet Mill properties in Maynard are set for a public auction on Saturday June 23 at 10 am. The 74 dwellings stores and commercial sites were sold by American Woolen and are open for viewing at the Middlesex House on Main Maynard. Auctioneers Foxcraft and Freeman & Company promise favorable terms with up to 75 percent mortgage financing on selling price.
Large crowd attended the Flagexer officers convention in Hyannis June 23 and 24. PER Leslie W. Sims was elected alternate. Installation ceremonies were assisted by Paul Vachon and others. Officers include Herbert W. Martin treasurer Michael F. McNamara tiler Frank B Parks esquire Edmund Lowney Matthew King inner guard P Dineen trustee R Murphy organist. A social luncheon followed. Only one lodge meeting will be held in June July and August.
O. E. S. School of Instruction will be held next Saturday at Masonic hall led by Miss Bather Kingman. Six chapters participate with opening by Aurora Natick and closing by Pequossette Watertown. Luncheon served at noon by Oliver Trees. Rainbow for Girls servers assist. A series of eight 0.8.8. bridge parties raised prizes including an electric clock.
Marlboro resident Marlboro Elmer Linsein conducted a roadside stand on the highway to Stow and killed two Tiger moths noted for their unusually large wingspan. A. H., a local teacher, praised the specimens as the finest seen in the area.

A man from 235 West Main reports to police that he struck Ernest Lemire of 261 West Street while attempting to move a car from his driveway. Lemire was bruised and the assailant Chagnon was taken into custody.
