Concord observed Memorial Day with a parade from the State Armory through main streets to Hill Burying Ground and St Bernard's cemetery. Maj Norman L Scherer led the march with Lt Casper Jenney and Brig-Gen Otis Whitney among staff, as veterans from World Wars I II and Korea were honored with taps and graveside services.
Concord announces Walden street merchant E. J. Moreau as the new grand knight of Cord K of C No 287 succeeding Principal John F. Donovan of Concord High School. Also named are deputy grand knight Robert V. Donaghey chancellor J Edward Finnigan warden William M Healy recording secretary Raymond M Daniels treasurer William J Daly advocate Louis K McNally inside guard William D Stone outside guard Robert J Hustak alternate David J Murphy. Delegates to state convention include Past Grand Knight Hugh E Kilmartin Donovan and alternates John B Finigan Martin J Diskin. Trustees are Past Grand Knights Leonard J Wetherbee John J Sheehan and Donovan.
Ernest Henderson of Lincoln was elected president at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce meeting in the Sheraton Plaza. A Page Browne of Ball’s Hill road was chosen as vice president. Both Henderson and Browne hold positions in the Sheraton Corporation, with Henderson serving as president.
Concord Morton principal H. Seavey has been elected president of the Massachusetts Junior High School Principals Association. The group is advancing junior high curriculum improvements statewide and Seavey has served on the committee for two years.
Firemen challenge the police to a softball game in Concord. The police department, noted as among the youngest in the state, may host a benefit match at an appropriate time.
Representative Martha Ware proposes an amendment to the judicial reorganization bill allowing full time district court judges to audit motor vehicle tort cases in Concord. Judge Pierre Northrop supports making the Concord court fully paid by receipts. others remain divided with some opposing the move.

Mr and Mrs James Eddy of 14 Crest Street West Concord welcome a daughter born May 29. Mr and Mrs William F Mattison Williams Road Concord greet a son born May 30. Mr and Mrs Alden K Coolidge 11 Woodland Road West Concord report a daughter born June 2. Mr and Mrs Edward W Bean 64 Harrington Avenue West Concord announce a daughter born June 3.
Concord hosts the annual meeting of the National Thoreau Society on Saturday July 14 at 10 30 AM in the vestry of the First Parish Unitarian Church. Herbert F West of Hanover NH is president and will preside. Prof Kenneth A Robinson of Dartmouth College will speak on Thoreau and the Wild Appetite while West will address the Younger Generation.
The last session for kindergarten children is Tuesday, June 19, with no classes on Wednesday, June 20. Grades 1-11 attend through June 19, then report cards and checkout on June 20, with staggered dismissals starting 9:15 a.m. for junior and senior high, 9:45 a.m. for Thoreau and Harvey Wheeler, and 10:15 a.m. for Alcott.
Concord Lions Club plans a June 12 supper meeting at Howard Johnson's with guest speaker Concord-Edward J. Powers, vice-president of the Boston Garden Avea Corporation. Powers will discuss My 28 Years in a Sports Arena and changes in the Boston sports palace. The meeting, presided by Rudolph W. Currier, precedes a directors session and forthcoming officer installations set for June 27 at Marlboro Country Club.
Concord High School completes its senior events with a class dance at Wells A Hall Memorial Auditorium last Saturday. The Nantasket trip followed on Tuesday and the class banquet is at Robin Hood's Ten Acres in Wayland prior to class night in the auditorium. Graduation is scheduled for Emerson Playground this Saturday.
Miss Jean Frellick of Concord High English teacher and popular faculty member will marry at month end. She will spend the summer in Maine where her husband will study at the University of Maine. Next year he pursues a doctorate at the University of Missouri and Miss Frellick already has a teaching position in their new town.
Concord high school plans outdoor graduation at Emerson Playground for the class of 1956 with about 135 seniors. Diplomas will be awarded by School Committeeman Donald B. Sinclair and his son Douglas, with prizes by Principal John Donovan and music by Charles Yeremian. The program features six student speakers on Music the Universal Language, a class gift accepted by junior president Francis Arnold, and a National Honor Society listing. The ceremony includes clergy readings and a long roster of graduates listed by name.
