Local Salvation Army committee coordinates a drive in Concord with supporters including Bur and Julian W. organizing appeals to raise relief for shoes coal and oil needs. The effort targets 80 percent of quota with events at Wonderland baron and Evangeline Booth Hospital. A June 17 collection starts at 9 30. hay Boy Scout join effort.
Concord Rotary club met at Howard Johnsons for a luncheon. President Gordon Ogilvie presided as delegates Charles Voigt Julian Ballou and Charles Allen reported on the Atlantic City convention. Guest Robert Sliney of New England Telephone spoke on Speeding Speech with a short film.
The James J. Mans field Post 158 plans a monster auction at the Veterans Building in Concord on Saturday morning June 16 at 11 o’clock. Post Commander Russel F. Parsons Sr. chairs the event with Commander Frank J. McLaughlin and a large committee. A large variety of articles will be on sale and the public is welcome. Auctioneer Thomas Whitey Mechan will lead.
During morning worship at West Concord Union Church a playlet titled Magic Bridges will be presented. Bibles will be given to primary graduates and certificates to pupils advancing departments. Children will be christened and each attendee receives a potted plant. All members and friends are welcome.
At the regular Knights of Columbus meeting on Tuesday night the council outlined a summer camp excursion it will sponsor for two local boys. Bernie Megin chairs the committee, with Grand Knight James W. Powers presiding. New officers will be elected next month.
Concord reports the Trinitarian Congregational Church marked its 125th anniversary with morning services. Dr. Douglas Horton preached on The Good Old Days Are Ahead of Us as Rev. Robert H. Barber presented him. The event highlighted the church’s long history since 1826 and included special music, ushers, hostesses, and a luncheon announcement.
About 35 Sodality members of St Bernard's church attended their annual Communion Breakfast after the 8:15 mass. The event at Colonial Inn was presided by Mrs Flora Clyne with Rev George Francis Murray, the new curate, present and offering brief remarks. No guest speaker attended.
Members of the Holy Name Society at St. Bernard's and Our Lady Help of Christians will attend morning Masses on Sunday and receive Holy Communion. After services, meetings will be held with light breakfasts served.
Our Lady Help of Christians CDA will hold a food sale at Lawton Appliance store this Friday starting at 11 o'clock. A fine display of foods and delicacies will be offered. Mrs. Margaret O Grady, regent, leads the committee in charge.

West Concord Cub Pack 33 held its May meeting on Scout Island Warner's Pond where new cubmaster Cyril Perkin awarded badges. The group then played games and sang. Forty eight cubs plus den mothers and pack committee members attended the Fenway Park outing. They plan the annual field day on Saturday June 9 at Emerson Playground featuring racing events for all ages.
Community gathering announced for Wednesday night at Monument Hall. Provisions and music expected. event includes an invitation to attend and receive refreshments.
Concord Miss Janice Beharrell was installed as worthy advisor of Concord Rainbow Assembly No 53 in the Masonic Temple. Also installed were numerous officers and advisory staff with Marilyn Wear and Beverly Chaffee serving as installing officers.
The 1931 Concord High School class reunion is being planned for Saturday night June 23 with place to be decided. Judge Maurice McWalter serves as class president and full details will be announced next week.
Concord High School honors Leo McKenna with the Harvard Prize Book for the best all around boy in the class. McKenna is a star athlete and honor student, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. McKenna of 45 Lexington Road, and co captain elect of the 1951 football team.
The 1926 Concord high school graduating class will hold its 25th reunion at the Concord Country Club on Saturday night June 9. About 80 attendees including members and spouses are expected. Georges Carey was class president. committee members include James W. Powers Mrs Helen Krukan Smith Earl Hicks John J Flannery. A social evening follows the dinner program.
Canary Mer cedes Burke Pearl, a registered Holstein Friesian cow owned by Farnham W. Smith of Concord and Carlisle, completed a 320 day production test. She yielded 667 pounds of putterfat and 18 412 pounds of milk during testing supervised by the University of Massachusetts and the Holstein-Friesian Association of America.
A playground program featured prize awards and diplomas presented by Principal John F. Donovan and Mrs Winslow J. Damon. Ten students received outstanding honors as prizes were announced. Music director Charles K Yeremian led performances by the Concord School Band and chorus. Invocations and benedictions were delivered by Rev George Francis Murray and Rev Edward Perry. Christina Camougis wrote the class song, Dorothea Kakes composed the music. The symposium was in seven parts with narrators Virginia and Matty.
