Town battle with wildfire near Lexington line
A northwest wind fanned a forest fire across two square miles threatening many East Lexington homes. Twenty firefighters and volunteers fought all day, while residents packed furniture ready to flee. Firefighters saved several houses including Mason Hunter and Mrs Hartwell as reinforcements from Waltham and Lexington aided containment.
