A fire department vehicle collided at an intersection injuring a relative of a state official. The governor’s carrier reported only minor injuries as responders assisted at the scene amid the holiday period.

A Sudbury man drunk at a car on Commonwealth Avenue was booked after patrols responded to a prowler report on Bedford Street. Damage at St Bernard Cemetery appeared, tires on two cars slashed next morning, and the prowler later returned and made full restitution. The Bedford Street resident refused to prosecute. the Billerica man was not held.
Mr and Mrs Warren F Dav is and two sons age 11 at 11 MacArthur Road West Concord are spending the summer on the cape where he is manager of a store in Osterville.
Concord prepares for the annual Thoreau Society meeting at First Parish vestry on Saturday July 13 at 10 30 with talks by G L ambassador and Prof Howard Zahniser. Attendees will tour Walden sites including Old North Bridge and nearby gardens after a luncheon and elections.
Concord Finance Committee held a sparsely attended hearing to discuss a two article warrant for the upcoming special town meeting on Monday July 15 at Wells A Hall Memorial Auditorium. The panel plans to recommend both articles including a 20000 dollar transfer from excess and deficiency funds for land taking of the new regional high school and Bedford Street construction plus a 26000 dollar Ford Foundation grant for educational research.
Concord town manager Theodore M Nelson says Anthony J Can on has only a few days left for his field work on wealth avenue before shifting to office duties. Engineers surveyed Route 62 and will begin construction from Bedford street to Sleepy Hollow cemetery. Bedford street work is badly needed. Two inquiries about industrial space were referred to the industrial committee. The U S Air Force sent a commendation to Police Chief Robert E Kelley for directing traffic at the olden anniversary event and praised cooperation with Publix Promotion. Concord Red Cross plans to rent rooms at the old high school building. No formal building permit for bowling alley yet. questions remain about applying the new 5 1 parking ratio.
Aggrieved taxpayers seeking personal property tax abatements are urged to procure the proper forms at the Town House to initiate the process.
About 20 members of the Lincoln Grange P of H conducted a two hour mystery ride through bordering towns ending at the Navoy Restaurant in Bedford where a business meeting, refreshments, and a social hour were enjoyed.
Concord is among eight Massachusetts towns to share 93000 from the Urban Renewal Commission via the Department of Commerce. Concord will receive 7500, stacking with another 7500 for a total of 15000 to fund the town planning board and its comprehensive plans committee. The panel, formed last October, will work with adviser Roland Greeley to study housing utilities and land use, aiming to present one plan with broad support via the citizens advisory council.
The Helping Hand Society of West Concord Union Church plans an all day outing on Wednesday July 17 at the Musketaquid Sportsmen's Club located off Harrington Avenue.

Concord first cookout of the season at Ray Harris home drew about 50 attendees. William M. Lawrence led cooking, John C. Collins presided, Rudolph W. Currier inducted two new members from West Acton and Hoel Peimer. Guests included James E. Finigan and Norman Cousins. Next gathering is a ladies night barbecue at Lawrence N.
