Predict Larger Fruit Harvest For Next Fall
Fruit growers should expect a bigger harvest next fall as supply rises in 1949, though prices may fall. The Massachusetts University conference urged efficiency gains in orchards, better pollination, pruning, brush removal, and pest control. It called for improved storage, stricter apple grading, reduced false advertising, local advertising, and careful handling from tree to table. Planting new orchards should focus on good soil to sustain orchard numbers.
