Assabet River Study Highlights Industry and History

The Assabet River shaped Hudson Maynard and West Concord as mills and power hubs. Major plants along Maynard and Hudson, including the woolen mills and shoe factories, fed regional industry and created a strong sports town culture with skating on mill ponds and river pools. The river’s condition has declined due to pollution but still supports recreation and local livelihoods through energy, manufacturing, and historic communities.
