King urges world disarmament conference and navy pause
Sen. Kaima H King of Utah calls on President Coolidge and President elect Hoover to convene a new international disarmament conference in America and suspend the Big Navy program for one year. He urges postponing further armament while Kellogg Briand Pact ratification and League of Nations talks proceed. He cautions against ratifying the pact and expanding the fleet, charging hypocrisy if disarmament talks fail. He argues eight cruisers now under construction should be slowed to speed up work on the larger fleet, or else a pause in naval expansion is warranted.
