MacRae Firm Builds on Concord Roots Since 1913
The Concord plumbing and electrical firm founded by Austin D. MacRae in 1913 grew from a single Main Street shop to a multi department operation. It expanded into bulbs and appliances, added electrical refrigeration and Frigidaire lines, and installed over 300 washing machines in the region. MacRae, active in the Elks and Masons, trained a crew of tradesmen, and his daughter Dorothy starred in hockey for Concord High. He lives on Monument Street with his wife and four children.
