Hon Arthur Gilbert of Agriculture will speak at the annual bank meeting of the Chamber. The event Monday evening at the hall will include dinner served by a local caterer and entertainment from Boston. Tickets are available from secretary C B Sowerby or chamber officers.
A state wide redistricting drive aims to cut Congress seats and redraw districts, sparking disfavor in Marlboro over loss of direct representation. The special 32 member committee and Senate move to create 15 districts is advancing with a target bill before April 15, amid mixed local views on ward one being folded into Framingham and the ensuing representation cycle.
Marlboro notes a possible Bears lineup shakeup after a weak showing against the Colored Giants. Marlboro Bears meet a strong Boston Whirlwinds quintet led by Henry Kiley Morley Dixon Thompson Moran and Reardon. Article 9 in the town warrant seeks a fine up to 20 dollars for thumb-jerk automobile rides. Voters treat the measure with humor as youths spread the term, prompting authorities to curb demonstrations planned for the upcoming town meeting Monday night.
Marlboro reports Joseph Balkose, 21, operator of a work truck, died at Marlboro hospital after a rollover on Gap Sears Road in Southboro. Four other men, including John Parker, Rob ert Hough, Herbert Hartshorn, and Fenn Bristol, were injured. Hough was most seriously hurt. The group, boarders with Edna Graham, was en route to St Mark’s school ground when the vehicle hit a tree. A second truck attempting to pass swerved off the road, hitting trees and overturning.
The Tuesday Club of Boston celebrated its 39th Guest Night at Odds Pelllowe hall with an exceptional program by the Varsity Club featuring songs and a cradle duet. A chicken salad luncheon followed, with dancing and bridge games continuing into the evening as Mrs. Harold H. Bartlett welcomed guests and praised the organizing committee.
