High School Question Stirs Acton Town Meeting Debates
A prominent Acton citizen forwards to Attorney General Dana Malone the state statute view on whether a town with 500 families that funds only the first year of a high school may allow rest of the course to be taken elsewhere. The letter argues that a town may omit parts of the curriculum while ensuring others are provided, and that a complete four year program must be maintained to qualify as a high school. The debate centers on keeping the local school versus sending pupils to Concord.
