Sudden Death of F. C. Elmes in Falmouth
West Concord resident F. C. Elmes died suddenly of a heart attack last Tuesday in Falmouth where he had lived for three years. The funeral was held at his sister Mrs. Waldo P Lapham’s home in West Concord with Ro. Alfred Wheeler Stone officiating. Burial in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery followed committal at the service. Born April 3 1874 in Odambidge he lived in West Concord most of his life and worked as an engineer at the Massachusetts Reformatory before marriage to Josie Chase in 1905.

Digester Explosion Claims Maynard Brill at Powder Plant
Maynard Brill, 22, son of Mr and Mrs Fred Brill of Aurams Street near Fletcher, died when a digester in the nitro cotton department of the American Powder Company exploded about 6 30 Saturday morning. The cause is unknown. the steel vessel held live steam and cotton. The plant building was destroyed and the Rose valued at 10000 dollars. Survived by parents two sisters and a brother. Funeral Monday at home conducted by Rev Ernest Lyman Mills with burial in Glenwood cemetery.

Car Drops 19 Feet In Medford Incident
Maynard Santi Qalareo of Acton faced a downhill start while cranking his car in Medford. The vehicle rolled down a 19 foot embankment, overturning with Jeannette Centamaro and Chester Donadio inside. both were removed unharmed. Mrs. Margaret Dentamaro was knocked down and knee injured while attempting to board. Calareso slipped on ice and was thrown but uninjured. he had been preparing to drive the family home.

17th Annual Old Folks Ball Draws Big Crowd
The 17th annual Old Folks ball by the White Cross Guild filled the high school auditorium to capacity. Residents enjoyed dancing whist and refreshments with Frank Sheridan's orchestra providing music and a grand maid led by Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Murphy featuring thirty five couples in old time costumes. A program directed by Miss Gertrude Morgan included nine-girl musical numbers, a comedy sketch, readings and vocal performances by local artists. Proceeds support welfare work.

Maynard Smith a longstanding Stow area resident died at his sister Mrs Haynes 17 Brooks Street after a brief illness.
