A community cinema night at the People's Theatre left patrons thrilled as the Hurricane film drew cheers and questions about wind tricks and air-powered machines. A separate Concord event was canceled without explanation amid discussions of local industry influence and safety.

Mr and Mrs John C Handy of 177 Commonwealth Avenue welcomed their only child on January Margaret, noting the newborn is the Handy couple's first.
A fire at a house ended with Mrs Weaver waking others after midnight and notifying the fire department. Five men guided Mrs Smith and Mrs Lyons to safety as flames claimed the rear of the home. The house sustained about 1500 dollars in damage and no serious injuries were reported.
Concord prepares March first for the Mothers Club comedy Nothing but the Truth by James Montgomery. The production promises strong cast, expert direction by Edward Lambs, and high quality props and costumes for a hilariously funny town event.

Photo by Geo Shephard shows Mrs Caleb Henry Wheeler and Major Joseph Hosmer born on the family farm near Damon's factory in West Concord. The 1736 1821 figure was son of Thomas Hosmer Jr and Prudence. Thomas moved farms in 1744 and later divided property between Benjamin and Joseph. Joseph built a house, married Lucy Barnes, and died in 1761 on Christmas Eve.
Miss Helena Apthorp Thompson daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Thompson became the bride of John E B Long of New York in Severy Long. Rev Arthur Lee Kinsolving officiated at Trinity Church. Reception at 1211 Beacon Street Boston. The couple will reside on Bates Street Cambridge.
The Browning Class led by Mrs. Leslie R. Moore will resume at Miss Camilla Moses home 7 Hubbard Street on Monday February 7 at 7 30 pm. Meetings will be on the first and third Mondays each month until further notice.
The Mothers' Club meets at Trinitarian Congregational Church to hear Dr. Helen I. McGill discuss sane education. McGill, educational director for Massachusetts Society of Social Hygiene, outlines her career from the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania to roles in public health and social hygiene efforts.
Mrs Lawrence Carty of Belmont announces the engagement of her daughter Miss Migsene Lennon of Dorchester to Francis J. Dee of Concord. Miss Lennon is a graduate of the School of Domestic Science and teaches in Pri[g]hton. Mr Dee works with his father Joseph Dee in Concord business. No date has been set for the wedding.

Robert J Stevenson, aged about 79, died Monday at Emerson Hospital after a long illness. Born April 29, 1860 in Maybole Scotland, he came to the United States at age eleven and worked at the Massachusetts State Reformatory from 1903 until his 1929 retirement. He leaves wife Angie Armite Stevenson two sons Myron R. Stevenson Belmont and Allen A. Stevenson Norwood a daughter Mrs Frank B Watt West Concord two sisters Mrs Rae Jackson Hardwick Mass and Mrs Jessie Brogden Mash Greenwich R I seven grandchildren and many relatives. He was a member of West Concord Union Church Ware Lodge I O F Corinthian Masons Wachusett Lodge A O U W and a Golden Wedding couple honored in 1995. Funeral February 23 at 2 PM from his West Concord home officiated by Kenneth B R Teed.
The Concord 4 H Hawthorne Hikers January meeting opened at 4 pm with standard business. a member moved away and Bill ee Stevens received a send off. The item was contributed by Elizabeth ers, eight years old, assistant news reporter.
The February meeting is set for Sunday February 6 at 8 p.m. at the G Winthrop Lees, 7 Bow Street, first right from Lowell Road, about four on the walk from Colonial Street.
