The Concord Free Public Library hosts a January 8 exhibit of 15th to 17th century European drawings illustrating the Nativity. Works by Raphael, Durer, and Rembrandt span to Nicene Creed themes, with watercolors on loan from local collectors available for three weeks.
After a full session, Acton schools close today and will reopen on January with a brief holiday break.

George B Erickson a Concord County Club Agent received the National County Club Agents Association Distinguished Service Award at its annual Chicago meeting. A car owned by George D. Mulcahy of 6 Main Street was stolen in Waltham during a night of two stick ups in the Watch City. The vehicle was found the next afternoon in Newton near where suspects left their victim. The car suffered no damage.
The General Radio Company of Cambridge announced the purchase of a 60 acre tract on the Concord Turnpike between Baker Avenue and the Assabet River in West Concord. The land, formerly owned by Charles Moulton of Concord, supports its future plans.

Marie Craig Hayes 21 of Concord was located in New York after being reported missing by her mother. Hayes, a Framingham Union Hospital student nurse and Concord High School graduate, had been missing since December. her mother notified authorities and she was found safe.
In Henryetta Oklahoma a football spectator argued with a nearby woman about the team coach. The exchange ended when the woman identified herself as Mrs Marion Anglin, Anglin the coach.
The Lions Club hosted a well attended party with many members guests and children. Santa Claus arrived to distribute presents after supper. Rev Laurence F Pete thanked the parish for use of the parish house for this year’s event and entertainment by a magician.
Arthur James Duggan prominent lawyer and former president of the Concord Board of Trade dies at Concord Hospital after a brief illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. Born December 27 1904 in Cambridge he lived in Concord 11 years and excelled in Concord High School football and baseball.
Mary Ela Parbell of 32 Hox Street will celebrate her 92nd birthday on Christmas Eve. She is regarded as the town’s oldest resident and plans a quiet celebration at the home where she has lived for several years.
About 500 boys and girls were entertained at the annual Christmas party conducted by the James J. Mansfield Post A. LenoV at the Veterans Building last Sunday afternoon. Ed entries and gifts were awarded, with refreshments and entertainment provided. Past Commander Russell F. Parsons Sr. chaired the committee in charge.
