Christmas Eve and Day Masses Planned at Local Churches

Midnight and daytime services across Fayed Concord, with three masses at two Catholic churches. St Bernard's will host a 11:45 carol program led by Esther Costello. Our Lady Help of Christians in West Concord schedules two masses with carols. Trinity Church, First Parish Unitarian, and West Concord Union Church plan candle lighting, nativity readings, and family services on Christmas Eve and Day. Organists include Miss Costello, Helene Donahue, E Whittredge Clark, Philip W. Trumbull, and Theodore Ridout.

Brooder House Fire Kills 500 Chicks

Firefighters battled a blaze at a poul try near Ralph E Banks Lane. The brooder house burned causing the death of about 500 chicks Box 15 reported. Fire crews fought the flames for two hours amid high temperatures.

At a joint meeting of the board of selectmen and the town donations trustees, Attorney Charles B. Hall of Monument Street was unanimously elected to fill the unexpired term of D. Ripley Gage who has resigned.

Garden Club Creations Shine in Concord Library Decor

Concords public library displays Christmas decorations planned by the Garden Club and aided by the Conantum Club. The exhibit spans old fashioned creche figures to modern mobiles and tree ornaments made by members. Allen Rohan Crite’s Christmas exhibit remains in the art gallery through January 6, with nativity stories in display cases in the lobby.

First Parish Concord Hosts 20th Christmas Eve Carol Service

The First Parish Church invites Concord residents to a Christmas Eve service in the Meeting House on December 24 at 9 o'clock. The choir will perform English French Russian and German carols along with works by Billings Gretchaninov and Britten. The nativity story prayers and three familiar carols will conclude the service.

More than 60 children attended the Lions Club Christmas party at Trinity Church Tuesday evening. Santa Claus arrived and Lions members helped distribute prizes. Movies were shown by Past President Leon J. Moreau and refreshments served. The event replaced the club’s regular meeting with the next gathering set for January 10, 1956.

Concord Firemen Respond to Weekend Alarms

Concord firemen answered several alarms over the weekend with minor damage reported. A grass fire behind Joe Dees barn off Bedford Street occurred Monday afternoon followed by a truck fire at Route 2 and 62 Tuesday at 7 AM, totaling the 280th alarm of the year.
