Sudbury Rejects Maynard Land For Dump Site Use

The Sudbury Board of Health denied Maynard Public Works Department permission to use Sudbury land near the Maynard dump for refuse. Dr. Marjorie Young said the board cannot grant a neighboring town access to a dump and urged Maynard to solve its own waste issues. She noted three Maynard sites encouraged by the state and referenced land at the Maynard dump, Taylor road site in the U. S. Army Reservation, and the Old Thompson estate off Great road. The state has urged progress toward a sanitary landfill and the Public Works Department continues seeking methods to operate the dump until a final plan is approved.
