The Concord veterans group hosted a gathering at the Veterans Building inviting Col John Park OPA Capt Frank J Googins and Gordon D Ogilvie among others from the Legion and State Dept. speakers included Timothy Mahoney with several invited guests. The Concord High School band provided music and Cmdr Arthur Wood with Vice Cmdr Frank McLaughlin led a large committee for the event.

Conemaugh teachers and pupils at the Pettit School greeted a returning group after nearly five years in the Pacific. Most of the boys and girls who were in the third grade when service began are now back in school. Mrs. Edmund Latham, away, has moved to the first grade at the school in the place of Miss Janet Campbell. Mrs. Latham received a bouquet of roses and candy from her junior high class. Mr. Ed Gerakstok led a faculty tea held on Wednesday.

Funeral for G. E. Wilkins Held Friday
Concord. Funeral services for George E Wilkins 82 of West Weoo Carlisle were held Friday at 2:30 at the Unitarian church with Rev Holley Shepherd officiating. Burial was in Green cemetery. Born in Chelmsford he lived in the same home about 80 years and retired 15 years ago. He served as a trustee of the parish committee at the First Parish church for 25 years and as treasurer for many years. He belonged to the Laymen's League and earlier to the Troop F Spaulding Light Cavalry MV V M. He leaves a daughter Mrs Earle G Emery Watertown two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
