Horace F Bates resigns after five years as Maynard High principal to become superintendent of Somerville starting Jan 1 1922. A Harvard summer School course alumnus he led school growth, athletics expansion and war effort committees. He will move to Somerset with a $3100 salary.
Edgar T. Wiley buys a Dodge sedan from Torrey and Vialle this week. Benjamin Derby also drives a Dodge sedan purchased from Torrey and Vialle recently.

A Concord social season highlights a Masonic ball planned for February 3 1922 at the state armory to raise funds for winter clothing for local needy children. Committee members include Howard B. Daniels Elmer L. Joslin and Duncan G. Chapman. The town’s electric lights were activated Friday afternoon after a Sunday outage and high school sessions were canceled due to transport disruption.
Concord high school students stage a new period play to raise funds for baseball, track and tennis next spring. Tickets are on sale with a class quota of 250 and a free ticket offered for every ten sold, aiding purchase of uniforms and equipment.
