On December 8 six years ago the war declaration spurred blood drives in Concord. The campaign urges every able bodied person to donate a pint of blood at the Blood Donor Clinic by appointment only, calling Concord 725 or 259 to save a life.

A small amount of damage occurred inside the renovated Battleground Cafe and the Howe Jewelry store.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Tourville marked their twenty fifth wedding anniversary with a celebration at a local home. The couple formerly lived in Gilbertville before relocating to Wace and raised five children named Ore Lara Quis Robert.

The Trade Board gathered for its annual officers meeting at the Colonial Restaurant, West Acton. Prof Seymour Harris of Harvard spoke on world conditions, warning the next war could cost up to 500 billion. President Robert D Parks conducted the session. 60 members attended.
Rasye Grandell died after a lone illness and had lived in this town for four decades. He worked in the card room at Assabet Mills before retirement and was a member of the Finnish Congregational Church Finnish Temperance Society and the Knights of Kaleva. Surviving are his wife Anna a daughter Mrs John Bowie and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Finnish Congregational Church with Rev Eino Hamalainen officiating. Bearers were John Kokko Iimari Junno Mikko Nokelaine John Lehto Weeti Taival and George Hekkala. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under Fowler Funeral Service.
Richard Rutherford of Middlesex County Extension Service in Concord was guest speaker yesterday on WBZ’s New England Farm Hour. He discussed agricultural practices and local farming updates.

He will perform the Order of Confirmation admitting 40 new communicants. A parish gathering follows in the parish house for greeting the new members and all church members.
St Bernard's church will hold Masses Friday morning with a 7 o'clock service. Our Lady's will offer Masses at 5 30 and 7 o'clock.
Concord honors a 50th anniversary event led by Archbishop Richard J. Cushing with about 400 attendees including Knights of Columbus No. 287. The gathering at the State Armory featured a turkey dinner and speeches, with representations from Mass clergy and long-time parish leaders.
