Parish communities plan Sunday September 1 services at Trinitarian Church with John Elmo Walach delivering the sermon and music. Congregants from Union and Parish Unitarian groups will attend their own separate services or hours.
The funeral of Miss Quinn, a longtime resident of the town, was held at St Bernard's Church. Rev Michael Burke conducted tal prayers after a requiem mass. Burial followed at St Bernard's Cemetery. She died at the Collicutt in West Concord after illness.
Miss Terese Agnes Malloy daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Gilbert Malloy of South Lincoln and Robert Oy son of Mr and Mrs Malloy of Waltham were married at St Josephs Church with Father Jo Quigley performing the ceremony. Their reception followed at the bride’s parents home and the couple later traveled to Waltham for a wedding trip. Attendants included Miss Cecile Savoie Ler of New Hampshire and Margaret Malloy sister of the bride.
The first Boston line began years ago with a mark in August and later as the Lexington and Concord Railroad. It extended to Con in 1873 with a Massachusett branch to Billerica. Freights on the old line were discontinued amid Reforma discussions and fair attendance.
Concord-Robert Tscherch, 21, of Billerica faced three charges after a near head on collision with a car carrying four Methuen priests on Route 126. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, endangering driving, and failing to keep right, paying fines totaling $150. He had prior continuances and served in the U S Army. Two Marist Fathers injured were hospitalized in Brighton.

Edward A. Boresen departed Westover Field Chicopee August 21 for the Azores to serve as fire chief of Santa Maria Airport there. He will lead 163 men and 11 firetrucks and plans to relocate his wife and five children in about four weeks.
Concord Rotary Club met at Colonial Inn with about 45 attendees. Frank M. Toperza showed a film on the Pennsylvania Highway, highlighting design, safety, and construction. The club aims to fund Concord High School band uniforms and organize waste paper drives in September with Boy Scout cooperation, plus magazines for veterans hospitals. Casper J. Jenney Jr. will speak at the next noon meeting.
The South Bridge Boathouse on Main Street, formerly run by Mr and Mrs Earl W York, is sold to J H Kennedy of 52 Central Street West Concord. The deal was handled through Powers real estate office in Concord.
Concord speaker Ramona Davis of the Middlesex County Extension Service was the guest on Radio WBZ’s Farm Wear program yesterday morning.
Two maiden youths William Doonan and John Brady narrowly escaped drowning when their canoe overturned on the Concord river near Low ell street bridge. Workmen and truckmen rushed to the scene to rescue Brady and Doonan with fire police and city utilities aiding. Brady was taken to Emerson Hospital and reported to be recovering. Doonan responded well to treatment.
Mrs. Katherine J. Downing of 21 Belknap Street and Miss Annie OConnell of 5 Potter Street were Concord delegates to the State Ancient Order of Hibernians meeting in Boston. Downing is Division 56 president and OConnell is vice president. The convention opened August 17 with a high mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and closed August 16 at 6 p.m. Business and social events were at the Hotel Statler. Next year the convention will meet in Worcester.
Concord's Massachusettes Women's Corps unit will be inactivated on September 15 and Tenth Company, Concord, will be discontinued after five years of activity. The company formed in 1941 with Mrs. Dorothy Macone as captain.
The family of Mr. and Mrs. Roger F. Conant of 44 Central Street West Concord moved last Friday to Littleton Common to be nearer Mr. Conant's newly established business. He has been active in local organizations and plans to maintain Concord contacts.
Official forms for discharged veterans to claim terminal leave pay are at the Concord Post Office. The notices detail usage of the forms titled Claims for Settlement Unused Leave. Local veterans who served in the Southwest Pacific and lacked furloughs may receive terminal leave benefits. Notarization is offered at the Concord Enterprise office 6 Main Street by Rudolph W. The Concord Post VFW hosts a grand penny sale at the Veterans Building Walden Street at 8 p m inviting townspeople from Concord and nearby areas. Prizes exceed 1000 dollars plus the grand GE refrigerator. more than 200 prizes include coal a calf home furnishings shoes clothing meat sugar vegetables fuel oil and various appliances. Committee members from Concord and West Concord oversee prize solicitation with a large local effort and contact details for missed residents.
Concord police undergo a five officer shakeup including retirement of Patrolman William L McCarthy a World War I veteran and long time officer. New assignments include Patrolman Thomas V Finan and his brother James E Finan Jr as supernumerary, Patrolman John W Hagerty Jr moving to a different shift, with Special Police Officer Robert Elly and J James W Poydie filling in. The selectmen may name a successor to McCarthy later.
Concord Special Police Officer and Mrs Robert E Kelley of Fairhaven note their fifth anniversary. They married at St Bernard's Church and have lived here since. Kelley is a Navy veteran and the couple has one child.
Mr and Mrs Waldo MacWilliams of 10 Hillside avenue marked their wedding anniversary last Friday. The couple wed at West Concord Union Church with Rev Lynne P Townsend officiating.
Concord public schools prepare for the 1946 fall term with three schools opening September 4 under Superintendent Ralph D. McLeary and principals Willard H. Smith Peter Bulkeley and Leeman E. Haines. Enrollment is rising, schedules shift earlier, and Middlesex School and Fenn School set later start dates with new student intake on September 17 or 18, while private schools defer until mid September.
