At a regular school committee meeting Concord accepts Mae Dennis resignation as school nurse after a 36 year tenure. She treated nearly 8 000 children for cuts and bruises examined thousands of eyes and ears and checked temperatures repeatedly. Dennis trained at Waltham Nursing School and lives on Florence Road. Her departure leaves a large hole in school nursing.

65 Year Old Cycle Rider Injured In Acton Crash

Fire Chief and Wife Hurt In Westford Crash Near Head-On
Concord ex-fire chief Harry A. Patterson and his wife, of 2 Potter street, escaped critical injuries when their car collided near head-on in Westford Friday evening. They were rushed to Emerson Hospital. the former chief suffered facial injuries and lost several teeth, and was held until Sunday. The wife had a serious scalp cut and remained for treatment. The Patterson car was wrecked.

Police officers teach safety at Walden Pond demonstration
About 300 children from Concord West Concord Bedford and Boston attended a safety demonstration at Walden Pond sponsored by the Concord police and the Massachusetts Safety Officers League. Water rescue mouth to mouth resuscitation and improvised water wings were demonstrated by officers from Newton Marlborough Natick and others supervised by Concord Sergeant James F. Hanley Jr. The event featured Chief James E. Finan Fire Chief Thomas Tombeno and Red Cross representatives.

Ex Local Family Halted En Route for meningitis precautions
Bedford-Prof. and Mrs. Vincent Barone formerly of Neillian way were halted at Syracuse while traveling to Oswego where he would join the New York State College faculty. They were stopped after it was learned they had been with a neighbor's child who contracted spinal meningitis. They were taken to City Hospital, Syracuse, for precautionary anti meningitis injections then resumed their trip.
