The Concord Young Republican Club will hold its annual corn roast and clambake at the Gardner W. Lawrence camp off Monument Street Friday at 7. The event invites young people ages 18 to 28. Gerald H. Qua of Bedford heads the arrangements as club president.
Miss Mary Flora of Main Street is employed this summer at the F. W. Woolworth store on Main Street, joining the local retail workforce for the season.
In West Concord at Our Lady of Christians church a meeting followed a luncheon and box social where Sean of West Concord led discussion. The group drafted resolutions denouncing Communists in the UN and condemning Jacob Malik and urged President to halt Ireland partition. Copies were mailed to the President.
Fire Chief Harry E. Tuttle led a civilian defense meeting at Central Fire Station with town officials clergy and auxiliaries. A fall town defense program was discussed with an October town meeting planned to seek funds and coordinate with state and national efforts.
Mrs Thom of 2 Laurel Street and her husband mark their 52nd anniversary this Tuesday. The couple, known locally in Concord and Marlboro, owned a printing business and later focused on other ventures. They have one son, a daughter, and several grandchildren.
Firemen from the Central Station were called to the depot end of year incident at Indiano Garage. A minor auto fire drew responders and brief attention to the garage area.
