Edward A. Sherman executive director of the Massachusetts Committee for the Hoover Report spoke at the Concord Rotary Club luncheon at Howard Johnsons. He discussed the significance of the Hoover Report and readers were urged to follow the weekly Enterprise installments. Attendance averaged just over 94 percent with several visiting Rotarians from Lexington Maynard and others making up.
Mrs. Mary A Fitzpatrick of Shirley Street welcomes her sister Miss Agnes McDermott from Manchester England for a three month visit. McDermott, of the Ministry of Food Department, is on leave from Civil Service and arrived in Boston aboard the Nova Scotia. It is her first trip to the United States and she plans to tour historic and literary sites in Concord and Greater Boston.

ConcordFrederick Ayer Jr former 1950 GOP attorney general candidate will be guest speaker at the State Club Boston meeting on August 13. His topic is Investigations Within The Commonwealth. Last Monday Rep. Harold Putnam of Needham former Boston newspaperman attended the club event.
West Concord announces upcoming games after last night’s match with Groton in the Village League. Sunday the 12th hosts Littleton at Littleton, while Sunday August 19 presents the windup with Pepperell at Rideout Playground. A postponed Groton game is to be played off.
Concord High announces 1951 football aspirants report Wednesday August 22 at 6 p m at Emerson playground. Returning players and newcomers urged to try for varsity. uniforms issued beforehand. Schedule lists nine games with Belmont and Rindge Tech among new foes. team aims to extend Massachusetts record of 48 undefeated games in five seasons.
Sunday services at Trinitarian Congregational Church conducted by Rev. Robert H. Barber begin at 9 30 with the sermon Keys of Faith. Daniel Pinkham of the Second Church of Boston serves as guest organist and a guest soloist will be announced. Services move to West Concord Union Church on August 19.
Concord reports Dr Charles H Dus ton 83 Thoreau street, physician and surgeon, has resumed his medical practice after a four week vacation with his wife and five children at Lake Winnepesaukee New Hampshire.
At Monday night’s town meeting the Concord Board of Selectmen announced two jurors for duty. John R. Bemis of Monument Street and Fannes F. Lawrence of Garfield Road were named.
Concord residents sent $200 to Rev. George Peabody for flood relief in St. Louis where he served at Grace Lee plats. His letter describes towed through flooded streets and islanded shanties. An additional $100 arrived for Western Missouri flood relief via the Kansas City area.
Concord Grange No. 150 held its annual corn roast at Mrs. Sally Monson's home on Old Bedford Road Route 62. Attendees enjoyed corn and summer fare such as pickles salads betweenies coffee and tahies as Mrs Alice M. O'Brien and others assisted the hostess. Regular meetings resume next month.
Joseph R Moynihan of 2 Brooks Street Concord on furlough after a mid east cruise while serving with the U S Navy He is a World War II veteran and son of T Frank Moynihan He previously ran J J Servicenter and served on the Franklin D Roosevelt crew.
Concord chapter of the American Red Cross appeals for funds to aid flood victims in the mid west. A national goal of 5 million dollars exists though Concord seeks 2500 with only 152 raised to date. Donations should be sent to the Concord Chapter on Stow Street.
Concord residents join the Groton Fair Committee for the August 24 and 25 event at Groton Fair Grounds. Miss Jane MacDonald treasurer and Miss Cynthia Heald publicity, both of Carlisle. Tractor contest for ages 14 to 21 chaired by Mr. William E. Mattison, with Weston Thayer of Groton as general show chairman.
Chief Petty Officer Norman L. McCormack and Mrs McCormack returned to their home in Glenview Illinois after a three weeks vacation and furlough with Mr McCormack's parents Reformatory Officer and Mrs Frank L McCormack of West Concord. Ac companying them was Miss Jean T McCormack R N on vacation from Newton Wellesley Hospital and sister of Norman.
Miss Joan V A Fitzpatrick a Maynard teacher of 5 Shirley Street spends the summer at Green Harbor South Shore as a counsellor at Father Hartigan's camp.
At the James J. Mansfield Post 158 gathering at Mrs. Julia Finan's home in Mon day night Mrs. Strude B. Parke was reelected president for the coming year. Officers named include Frances Dolan as first vice president Helena Donahue as second vice president Mary Flavin as secretary Loretta Mullins as treasurer and Loretta Frawley as sergeant at arms with Naomi Wood Theresa Alexander and Mrs Finan as trustees. A report on semi monthly whist parties was given. Installations set for September in a joint event with the Legion post.
