The Village Improvement Society lawn party on Friday drew about 1600 attendees despite other attractions. Events included a Maynard band concert, a dance by 50 children led by Miss Emma Clahane, a chorus of 50 under Harold Judkins, and a series of lantern lights and patriotic decorations. Refreshments sold heavily to cover expenses, and two boys who fled the grounds were pursued and captured by local officers.
