Golden wedding anniversary glimmers for Maynard couple

The Maynard couple celebrated their golden wedding with friends and gifts from relatives and church members. Rev. Boicourt officiated at the ceremony with حضور. The husband born 1840, taught 22 years, longtime member of the Congregational Church. wife born 1855, daughter of Henry and Rico Writer, remains active in church circles. Their two daughters and two grandchildren were present amid warm tributes. Also noted are students in the university summer session, among them Maynard residents Lo Fullin and E Townsend.

Tax rate reduced by board of assessors this year

The board of assessors lowered the tax rate from 34.50 to 28.00 this year due to gains in real estate. personal property valuations also decreased for the town, with about 480 poll tax payers affected and a gain against last year.

Players work as icemen and on railroads or construction while one backfield hopeful notes he is a bouncer. Marquette meets Holy Cross in Milwaukee, 1928, as Don Lent of Maynard high plans an early callout for a September 17 game with Clinton HS.

Brake and Light Test August 8 by Boston Automobile Club

A free automobile brake and light test will be held here on Monday August 8 under the direction of the Boston Automobile Club. It is a continuation of last Monday’s test interrupted by rain and is a voluntary effort by the AAA to promote road safety.

Benefit Dance Friday Night for Maynard Town Team

A benefit dance for the Maynard Town team will be held at the Yose Pavilion next Friday night. Hugh Connors celebrated Hotel Bancroft. The broadcasting orchestra will furnish the music. Adverse weather last Friday reduced attendance at the prior benefit. Tickets go on sale in advance. Local supporters are urged to help make this event a success.

Brayden Wins Low Net in Maynard Handicap

Frank Brayden was low net in a medal handicap at Maynard Country Club on Saturday. A three way tie for low gross occurred with L A Wells of Waltham, B J Coughlan, and Arthur Carlton. The first qualifying round for the club championship will be played next weekend, with the top sixteen advancing to finals. Frank Sheridan, the club handicapper, expects the championship tourney to run weekly toward the state club handicap tournament in September.

Student Loan Fund Transferred to Treasurer in Maynard Scene

The Student Loan Fund of Scituate School, organized under Principal Cole, is held by Alverta Carroll, treasurer of the Maynard Teachers Club, until a new treasurer is appointed. The 1923–1927 donations totaled $440 with $45.61 interest and $485.61 on hand July 30, 1927, plus a report submitted by A. R. Cy Cole.

An automobile brake and light test was held here Monday under the Business Men's Association and the Police Department. Five inspectors of the Boston Automobile Club conducted the tests. Oscar Boblin directed the squad and reported on road conditions. The Boston Club serves as the local representative of the American Automobile Association.
