Town Clerk Threatened With Arrest Over Lobbying Claim

Horses Run Wild as Ice Wagon Collides on Hubbard Street
Ivory Wheeler's ice wagon spooked by a single horse on Hubbard Street Monday morning. The team dashed onto Walden Street and sidewalk in front of Barkers' before crashing into Saunders' porch then breaking free. The whole outfit tumbled, but no injuries were reported.

Death of Dr Bard of California
Dr C L Bard of Ventura a prominent physician surgeon and Civil War veteran died on April 20 at age 68. He built and housed a hospital for the town and was widely beloved for his charitable work and service to rich and poor alike. He was a Grand Army of the Republic member and related orders. his brother serves as a California senator.
