Tragic Auto Crash Injures Duckworth Girl on Way Home
Patricia Duckworth, ten, daughter of Mr and Mrs William Duckworth of Mapes Street, was struck by a Chevrolet sedan driven by Bertha Kin of Harvard Road while crossing Nes Street near the John residence. She was taken to Emerson hospital for surgery and remained under care as doctors hoped for recovery.

Funeral for George Stokes in Maynard
George Stokes died at his home on Main Street after a lingering illness. Born in Mari and a long resident of Maynard, he worked for the Assabet Mills for many years. He is survived by his wife and a brother Caryles of Lancaster. Funeral services were held at his home and Rev. J Rex Shepler officiated. Interment was at Glenwood cemetery.
