The annual collection for the committee on Domestic Charities was taken. A Good Friday service at Trinity Church featured an afternoon program for boys and girls and a Junior Choir performance at 8 pm. Evening prayers with Meditation included Purcell and Anerica works led by Mrs. Uhbier. Easter Day services followed with Holy Communion at 7:45 am and music by Mrs. Jesse Potter.
Members of the West Ae Am club organize their annual meeting in quarters with plans for a group to attend by bus. Mrs Herbert led the day’s program and activities.
Yesterday afternoon the Congregational church chapel hosted a well attended pageant by elude musicians and dancers led by Mrs Howe Mrs Vance and Mrs Peppard with Mrs Herbert as art department chair. The event featured a Paisley Minuet Tableau by Alfreda Dittrich Charles Grieve and others and showcased costumes from many countries. The annual meeting and May event may be held Tuesday.
The County branch store debut drew guests from Amherst Wellesley Boston Cambridge and others. The modern tan and green front features vitrolite glass with stained glass interior decorations. Daily prizes offered all week with a RCA Victor Radio grand prize Saturday. Dedication at the high school auditorium 8 o clock with Dr James P Warbasse headlining and John Rohrbough giving a welcome.
The Maynard Finnish-American community hosts the third annual Marathon Dance at Alku Temperance Hall next Monday evening. The event aims to foster ties with locals as Carl Hills celebrates his birthday with a six mile road race to be filed through George Lousala. Thomas Nevela, once notable in long runs, will begin training soon though not in peak condition.
The Maynard R Club runs a penny sale in St Parish hall on Friday with noted prizes. Local R chapter members plan to attend the Salem R Club anniversary program and dance Saturday night. An R Club social for members and friends will be held in the George Washington auditorium early in May.
The Easter parade proceeded without hindrance and did not affect attendance at Easter services. Large congregations filled all churches as dull skies contrasted with joyous Easter music performed by choirs reflecting the season.
The Concord community reported Russian Orthodox and Gregorian calendars aligning on Easter. St Mary's Russian Orthodox Church held 10 o'clock Saturday evening services, a midnight mass, and sunrise prayers with special choral music. Rev. John Houseline officiated with Rev. Syonyet present. There were also services on Thursday and Friday evenings led by the pastor.
Postmaster John Enneguess undertakes upgrades to the post office to create a cheerier, more welcoming space for patrons and staff. The effort aims to boost efficiency and public satisfaction in daily service.
WPA Boston reports long sidewalk builds along state highways in Sudbury Acton Bedford and surrounding towns. Over twenty towns participate with about 2100 workers. Total outlay over 171000 dollars with state contribution over 19000 dollars.
Concord marks its fight day with a public program at Old North Bridge featuring Dr. Prescott delivering messages, a Legion Band salute with 1 gun battery, and a march through Monument Street and Main Street to the playground, as officials and residents join in the commemoration.
