The Concord School Committee elected several new teachers for the 1954 55 school year. Ruth Bill, a Lyndon Teacher’s College graduate with study at Vermont, Colorado, and a year at the Anglo American School in Athens, has eight years of teaching in Vermont and New Hampshire and one year abroad. Roger Coleman, Whitman College graduate with studies at Harvard and Tufts, has four years teaching in Charleston and Amesbury. Janice Dykhuizen, University of Vermont alumna, has two years teaching in Burlington. Jeanette Hotchkiss, New Haven State Teachers College graduate, has two years teaching in Cos Cob Greenwich. Barbara Rittenhouse, Cornell graduate with studies at New York State College for Teachers, has two years teaching in Buffalo. Blanche North, Boston University BS in special education and registered nurse trained at Bellevue, will teach a new program for trainable children starting September.
Concord plans a full Patriots Day program marking the 180th anniversary of the shot heard round the world at Old North Bridge. The day includes a sunrise salute by the Concord Independent Battery, a wreath laying at Maj. John Buttrick’s grave, a seven-school track meet, a Middlesex League baseball game, and a parade featuring Col. W. Bruce Pirnie, with Atty. Gen. George F. Fingold as principal speaker and Gov. Christian A. Herter represented by Col. John E. Mutty.
A morning event formed a group of 24 school seniors en route by bus from Boston toward Detroit.

The study committee appointed by the moderator to organize town archives names Mrs Gladys Hosmer as chairman Mrs Elizabeth Borden as secretary and George T Goodspeed as the third member of the panel created to oversee archive creation and records care.
Concord announces holiday events for Patriots Day including a military ball at State Armory Monday 8 p m a sunrise salute at Old North Bridge and breakfast at Colonial Inn Tuesday. The program features a track meet at Emerson Playground wreath laying by the Sons of the American Revolution a Concord High baseball game against Lexington and a parade and speeches at the Old North Bridge with Attorney General George Fingold. Evening events include a banquet at the Veterans Building and a Dr Samuel Prescott arrival with alarm.
The annual Patriots Day parade in Concord starts at State Armory at 2 p m. It travels via Stow Street Sudbury Road Main Street Monument Street to Monument Square and the old North Bridge, then returns along the same route.

Concord High plans another foreign student exchange with the American Field Service. Last year Stephen Vogel of Switzerland studied at Concord. This year's program includes two boys and one girl accepted, one girl on the waiting list, with costs of 475 dollars per student and 650 dollars for the school and community. contributions may be sent to Principal Donovan at the high school.
Mr and Mrs Michael B Gormely Jr and their children move from 13 Laurel Street to 53 Central Street West Concord the former home of Arthur King.
Dr. Donald Wyman, renowned horticulturist from the Arnold Arboretum, will be the guest speaker on Flowering Shrubs and Trees at the Fenn School Auditorium Friday night at 8:15. Public is invited with a small admission fee.
