The South Seizes War Era Opportunity for Growth
The article argues that wartime disruptions in Europe create a vast opportunity for the southern United States to boost manufacturing and agriculture. It cites imports from Europe, potential local substitutes, and the need to develop cotton, tobacco, peanut oil, wool, and wood pulp. It notes that European labor shifts and trade changes favor southern production and investment, with northern capital ready to finance projects.
